Quang Nam requires food and essential goods reserves to proactively prevent floods

On the afternoon of October 13, Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, said that he had signed and issued an official dispatch on proactively responding to floods in the province.

According to the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, the provincial Hydrometeorological Station forecasts that from now until October 17, localities in the province will continue to have moderate, heavy, and very heavy rain; there is a risk of floods and flash floods in rivers and streams in mountainous areas, landslides on slopes, small rivers and streams; causing flooding in low-lying areas and densely populated areas. Heavy rain will continue to develop complicatedly in the following days.

Therefore, to cope with the floods, the Provincial People's Committee requested localities, departments and branches to continue to organize reviews and proactively evacuate households in dangerous areas, especially households in areas at high risk of landslides, flash floods and deep flooding to safe places; have plans to support temporary accommodation, food and necessities for people who have to evacuate, ensuring stable lives for people.

Proactively arrange forces and vehicles in key areas to promptly organize support for people to evacuate and rescue when situations arise.

Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with localities to promptly direct the work of ensuring safety for agricultural and industrial production, safety of irrigation and hydroelectric dams, especially for small hydroelectric reservoirs and important irrigation reservoirs.

The Department of Education and Training coordinates with localities to direct the work of ensuring safety for teachers, students, facilities, equipment, tools and learning materials in areas affected by floods.

The Department of Transport directs and guides the organization of traffic and ensures traffic safety in areas affected by floods, promptly overcomes incidents, and ensures smooth traffic, especially on main traffic routes.

The Provincial Military Command, the Border Guard Command, and the Provincial Police are ready to deploy forces to respond to, search for, and rescue, ensuring timely and effective response when floods occur.
