Mr. Nguyen Van Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ly Son Special Zone, said that in the afternoon of the same day, the An Vinh ship (Ly Son) found Mr. Le Van Sanh (37 years old) in Tay An Hai village. This was the second victim of the three victims found after two days drifting at sea. The location where the victim was found was near the area where Mr. Quang was discovered in the morning of the same day. Mr. Quang and Mr. Sanh were the two people who directly went out to sea to rescue Mr. Duong Quang Cuong on the afternoon of November 6 when storm No. 13 made landfall. Currently, Ly Son Special Zone and people have mobilized all means to continue searching for the last victim.
Previously, at 8:45 a.m. on November 8, Mr. Hoang Phu Xuyen, Captain of the Hai Nam 39 ship (Hai Nam Limited Liability Company), on the way from Vinh Tan port to Son Duong port (Ha Tinh) to deliver goods, when passing through the waters of Gia Lai province, rescued a person drifting at sea. The victim was Mr. Phan Duy Quang (47 years old), residing in Tay An Vinh village (Ly Son Special Zone). The location where Mr. Quang was found was about 60 nautical miles from Ly Son island. Immediately after receiving first aid, Mr. Quang asked to join the rescue team, assisting the authorities in searching for the remaining two people.
Previously, on the afternoon of November 6, Mr. Duong Quang Cuong (44 years old) in Tay An Vinh village, for family reasons, went to Ly Son wharf and jumped into the sea. Upon discovering the incident, Mr. Le Van Sanh (37 years old) from Tay An Hai village and Mr. Pham Duy Quang (47 years old) from Tay An Vinh village used a basket boat to rescue the person. After rescuing Mr. Duong Quang Cuong, due to big waves, all three were unable to row the basket boat to shore.
Immediately after the incident, the authorities mobilized Thanh Tam ship (VT0035) to search for the victims. At nearly 6 p.m. the same day, due to high waves and strong winds, the search had to be temporarily suspended. On November 7, the Ministry of National Defense dispatched helicopters from Division 372, Da Nang to join the search for the three missing people at sea.
