Quang Ngai: Support clean water for people in isolated areas due to flooding

On October 29, leaders of the People's Committee of Dong Son commune, Quang Ngai province, went to isolated areas due to flooding to provide clean water to people.

Mr. Nguyen Tuong Duy, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Son commune, and the working delegation of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control made an urgent on-site inspection at Cu Lao hamlet, Chau Me village.

Realizing the complicated flood situation, the Secretary and the working delegation directly traveled by boat through areas with rising water to accurately assess the extent of damage and deploy local response work.

Due to low-lying terrain and lack of drainage, many areas are deeply flooded, making it very difficult for people to travel and buy necessities.

To provide timely support, Dong Son Commune People's Committee has immediately organized clean water supply for 132 affected households, each household received a 20-liter bottle of filtered water to serve daily needs.

The commune police chief was injured while helping people evacuate.

On the morning of October 29, in Son Tay commune ( Quang Ngai ), many landslides occurred due to prolonged heavy rain, especially in the Uy Mang stream area (Dak Tren village), where rising water caused landslides on both banks, sweeping away people's property.

While directing forces to evacuate people and move assets to safety, Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Quang Tien, Chief of Son Tay Commune Police, was unfortunately pierced through his right foot by a wooden stick.

Despite being seriously injured, Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Quang Tien still tried to suppress the pain, directed the Commune Police force to complete the evacuation of people to a safe area before providing first aid and treatment.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Quang Tien, although he is currently injured and has difficulty moving, he still tries to direct the Commune Police force to coordinate with local authorities to go to areas at high risk of landslides and flash floods to encourage and help people evacuate to safety.

*On October 29, Dong Tra Bong Commune Police mobilized 100% of officers and soldiers to coordinate with the militia, youth union and departments and branches of the commune to urgently help households in Binh Trung and Phu An villages to move their assets and livestock to safe places due to local flooding.
