On the morning of April 28, the People's Council of Quang Ngai province held its 33rd session (special session), term XIII, term 2021-2026. At the session, the People's Council delegates passed resolutions on the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units of Quang Ngai province in 2025; the policy of merging Kon Tum province and Quang Ngai province.
Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Quang Ngai province Bui Thi Quynh Van said that currently, all levels, sectors and localities are focusing on implementing the arrangement of administrative units, the organization of the political system to be streamlined, effective and efficient in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 18 of the Central Executive Committee, especially the arrangement and reorganization of administrative units at the provincial and communal levels and the implementation of the two-level local government model...
In accordance with regulations, on April 20, the whole province organized a voter consultation on the arrangement of administrative units at the provincial and communal levels, ensuring the required time and roadmap. According to the report, voters and People's Council delegates at the district and communal levels all highly agreed with the Project on the arrangement of administrative units at the provincial and communal levels of Quang Ngai province.
Accordingly, the policy of arranging commune-level administrative units of Quang Ngai province in 2025 is to convert the status quo of Ly Son island district into a commune-level administrative unit, called Ly Son special zone.
No arrangement will be made for Ba Xa commune, Ba To district, with a natural area of 102.7867 km² and a population of 5,452 people.
Arrange 169 communes, wards and towns in 12 districts, towns and cities of Quang Ngai province into 54 commune-level administrative units, including 6 wards and 48 communes. After the arrangement, Quang Ngai province has 56 commune-level administrative units, including 6 wards, 49 communes and 1 special zone.
Quang Ngai province was established on the basis of merging Kon Tum province and Quang Ngai province. The administrative unit of Quang Ngai province (new) has an area of 14,832.548 km² (reaching 296.65% of the standard), a population of 2,161,755 people (reaching 154.41% of the standard), with 96 affiliated administrative units. The political and administrative center of Quang Ngai province is located in Quang Ngai city, Quang Ngai province today.
The arrangement of the number of cadres, civil servants and public employees of the administrative unit of Quang Ngai province after the rearrangement must not exceed the total number of cadres, civil servants and public employees currently in the two provinces before the rearrangement.
During the 5 years of implementation, the province aims to reduce at least 20% of the number of cadres, civil servants, and public employees (excluding those in the education and health sectors) compared to the total number at the time of the arrangement and merger of the two provinces. The assignment of staff after the arrangement, in the period 2025-2030, will be implemented according to the roadmap of the Central Government.
