Project Overview
The People's Committee of Hung Yen province has approved the detailed construction planning project at a scale of 1/500 for the second campus of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology branch. This decision was issued under Decision No. 1192/QD-UBND dated September 30, 2025. The project covers an area of nearly 70 hectares, located in Nghia Tru and Van Giang communes, Van Giang district.

Detailed planning map 1/500
According to the approved plan, the branch campus will be developed with four main functional groups, forming a modern and integrated educational and research complex:
- Training and research area: Includes lecture halls, laboratories, and innovation centers, arranged along a central academic space axis.
- Service and living area: Includes dormitories, sports facilities, and cultural amenities, aiming to create a comfortable living and learning environment for students and staff.
- Green spaces and landscaping: Emphasis is placed on green parks and water features to ensure ecological balance, creating open spaces and enhancing the overall landscape of the area.
- Technical infrastructure system: Internal transportation is designed to connect efficiently with the regional transportation network, in sync with the overall urban planning of Van Giang.

Strategic location and infrastructure connectivity
The branch campus boasts a prime location with frontage on the recently expanded Hanoi-Hung Yen interprovincial road (Road 379), providing convenient connectivity to the capital and surrounding areas. The project is situated opposite the PVF Youth Football Training Center and near the recently commenced construction of a 60,000-seat multi-purpose stadium, the largest in Vietnam.
In addition, this area is adjacent to large, rapidly developing urban areas such as Ecopark, Vinhomes, and Xuan Cau, creating a complete urban-educational-service ecosystem.

Development goals and vision
Hanoi University of Science and Technology aims to develop its Hung Yen branch into a leading regional center for technology training and applied research. It is projected that by 2028, the branch will have approximately 30,000 people, including students, faculty, and staff.
The project is expected to create a comprehensive learning, research, and innovation environment. Through this, it will contribute to the overall development of the Red River Delta region, particularly in providing high-quality technical human resources, promoting science and technology, and fostering innovation.
The establishment of the new branch campus is also a strategic step, contributing to Hanoi University of Science and Technology's goal of being among the top 100-150 technical universities in Asia before 2035, according to the development plan approved by the Prime Minister.
