Acting President sends condolences over terrorist attack in Moscow

ActingPresident Vo Thi Anh Xuan has sent a message of condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the terrorist attack at the Crocus shopping mall in Moscow that left many people dead and injured.

Upon hearing of the terrorist attack at the Crocus shopping mall in Moscow, Russia on the evening of March 22, 2024 (local time), which killed and injured many people, on March 23, 2024, Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan sent a message of condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On the same day, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son sent a message of condolences to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

According to the update from the Investigation Committee on the morning of March 23, the death toll is now more than 60 people, while at least 145 injured people have been hospitalized. The bodies of the deceased are being examined to determine their identities.

"The number of victims could continue to rise," the commission said. A spokesman for the commission said it was too early to give information about the attackers.

According to the website of the Ministry of Health in the Moscow region, at least nine of the injured are in critical condition.

On the same day, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said: "The entire international community must condemn this barbaric criminal act. All efforts are being focused on rescuing the injured."

Meanwhile, Russian authorities have warned of the risk of fake news about the attack on social media sites and messaging apps. Russian authorities have also warned of the possibility of cyberattacks and urged citizens to be on maximum alert.

Earlier, on the evening of March 22, a group of people entered the concert hall right before the opening of the famous Russian rock band Piknik's performance and opened fire with automatic weapons into the crowd.
