Determined to complete the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses

(BDO) On the morning of May 11, in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and chaired the 4th meeting of the Central Steering Committee to implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide. Also attending were Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh; Mr. Do Van Chien, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and representatives of ministries and branches. The meeting was held in a combination of in-person and online formats to provinces and cities across the country. At the Binh Duong bridge, Mr. Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives of departments and branches in the province also attended.

According to the data reported by localities on the updated software, as of May 7, 2025, the whole country has supported the elimination of nearly 209,000 temporary and dilapidated houses. Thus, from the 3rd meeting until now, it has increased by nearly 87,000 houses; an average increase of 26 houses/locality/day. To date, about 77% of the temporary and dilapidated houses that need to be eliminated for all 3 target groups have been started and completed.

Specifically, housing support for people with revolutionary contributions is 25,597 units, reaching about 50.79%; housing support under two national target programs (sustainable poverty reduction and ethnic minorities) is 59,293 units, reaching about 68.7%; housing support under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is 124,097 units, reaching about 80%. From now until October 31, 2025, the whole country needs to start construction of over 61,800 units...

Delegates attending at Binh Duong bridge point

As of May 7, 2025, 15 localities have completed the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. In May, 6 more localities will complete the program; in June, 16 localities are expected to complete the program; the remaining 26 localities strive to complete the program from July to October.

At the meeting, delegates exchanged and discussed in a frank and responsible spirit, focusing on assessing the current status of the program implementation results at ministries, agencies and localities; continuing to clarify difficulties, obstacles and challenges in implementing the program...; along with that, answering local proposals and recommendations, removing related difficulties...

In Binh Duong, as of May 9, 2025, the province has started construction and repair of 335/470 houses, reaching 71% of the plan, with a total cost of more than 20.6 billion VND.

Binh Duong's goal will be completed before June 30, 2025. Regarding mobilization funding, as of May 5, 2025, the provincial level has mobilized 30 billion 847 million VND. Regarding support for Bac Lieu and Nghe An provinces, Binh Duong has so far completed transferring 34 billion VND to support Bac Lieu province and transferred 44.735 billion VND/56 billion VND to support Nghe An province.

Recently, localities in Binh Duong province have actively implemented the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses with the goal of completing it before June 30, 2025.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised ministries, sectors and localities for actively implementing this work. However, the tasks from now until October 31, 2025 are still very heavy. Therefore, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested all levels, sectors and localities to make greater efforts, greater determination, and take more drastic, effective and focused actions to successfully implement the program's goals.
