Speaking at the event, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee affirmed that the fact that Ho Chi Minh City was honored by UNESCO to be officially recognized as a creative city in the field of cinema, the first cinema city in Southeast Asia, is a milestone of special significance, affirming the international position and strong development potential of the cultural industry of Ho Chi Minh City.
The publication of the handbook “Ho Chi Minh City - Film Production Destination” is of special significance. “The publication is not only a useful professional document for film producers but also demonstrates the city’s commitment to developing cinema in association with the national cultural industry development strategy, in line with the Vietnam cinema development strategy to 2030, vision 20245”, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy affirmed.

Mr. Paul Abela - Audiovisual Attaché of the French Embassy, the agency that has always closely accompanied, supported, and actively advised the development of cinema in Ho Chi Minh City, especially in the process of building this handbook, shared that the guidebook is an essential need, bringing many advantages to the film production process in Ho Chi Minh City.
“These guidelines contribute to the sustainable structure of Ho Chi Minh City, helping to professionalize the filming and film production stages. This is a great opportunity for Vietnamese cinema to create many attractive stories. At the same time, it helps to raise the position of Ho Chi Minh City cinema in the Southeast Asian region. Ho Chi Minh City has many resources to become a center of artistic and cultural creativity,” Mr. Paul Abela shared.

This is the first time in Vietnam that a locality has proactively developed a specialized Handbook for international film crews, providing full information on the setting, services, infrastructure, support processes, communication systems and resources available for film production in Ho Chi Minh City.
The handbook is designed according to international standards with professional advice and support from the French Embassy in Vietnam and international and Ho Chi Minh City film experts.

The launch of the Handbook is also the first activity demonstrating Ho Chi Minh City's strong commitment after being recognized by UNESCO as a Creative City in the field of Cinema.
With this title, the city aims to build an ecosystem to support professional film production, creating favorable conditions for domestic and international film crews to access and work in Vietnam.

The handbook “Ho Chi Minh City - Film Production Destination” will provide: general information on terrain, climate, transportation, services; a list of prominent and potential settings of the City; a list of production support units, logistics services, human resources; processes, procedures and instructions for working with management agencies; quick contact information and focal points for film crews...
This is considered the initial driving force to help Ho Chi Minh City continue to build a "one-stop shop" mechanism to support film crews, modernize infrastructure and promote investment in the film industry.
Along with the Handbook, Ho Chi Minh City commits to continue implementing many new initiatives to attract international film projects, promote film tourism and spread the image of Vietnam to international friends.
