Launch of Thai-Vietnamese bilingual book 'Uncle Ho in Thailand'

On May 18, at the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site in Udon Thani province, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, Thailand, in coordination with the Management Board of the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site in Udon Thani province and the Vietnam Education Publishing House, solemnly organized a program to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday with many meaningful activities.

Attending the ceremony were Vietnamese Consul General in Khon Kaen Dinh Hoang Linh, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Education Publishing House, Associate Professor, PhD Nguyen Van Tung, Head of the Management Board of President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site in Udon Thani Province Pham Duc Dau, Deputy General Director of Voice of Vietnam Ngo Minh Hien, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Udon Thani Province Luong Xuan Hoa, Chairman of the Thai-Vietnamese Business Association Ho Van Lam.

Also attending the program were Governor of Udon Thani Province Rachan Sunhua, President of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association Sanan Angubolkul, and many overseas Vietnamese in Thailand.

In a solemn atmosphere, the delegates respectfully offered incense and flowers, paid tribute and expressed their deep gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh. Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh affirmed that the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site in Udon Thani Province is a historical site closely associated with the years of President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities in Thailand. On this occasion, all Vietnamese people respectfully remember President Ho Chi Minh with deep respect and gratitude.

In particular, on the occasion of Uncle Ho's birthday this year, the Relic Site held an exhibition of paintings "The heart of painter Dao Trong Ly with Uncle Ho" with 19 large-scale paintings of Uncle Ho and the launching ceremony of a Vietnamese-Thai bilingual book entitled "Uncle Ho in Thailand". Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh expressed his sincere thanks to the family of the late painter Dao Trong Ly, emphasizing that the 19 paintings displayed at the exhibition have many values ​​and profound meanings, not only recreating history, but also reviving passionate patriotism and the spirit of great solidarity; at the same time expressing the infinite gratitude of generations for the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh.

Mrs. Vo Thi Hong Van, the late artist’s wife, said that Mr. Dao Trong Ly was a patriotic overseas Vietnamese who always turned to his homeland and contributed to the development of the Vietnamese community in Thailand. All of his paintings expressed his love and deep gratitude for the great contributions of Uncle Ho.

At the launching ceremony of the Vietnamese-Thai bilingual book entitled “Uncle Ho in Thailand”, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh thanked the VietnamEducation Publishing House, author Ha Lam Danh, translators, the family of the late painter Dao Trong Ly, all agencies, organizations and individuals who have contributed a lot of effort to complete and bring a work of historical value to the public, believing that the book will continue to spread the noble human values ​​of Uncle Ho, contributing to enhancing the patriotism and respect for President Ho Chi Minh of overseas Vietnamese, enhancing understanding between the people of the two countries, thereby continuing to foster good feelings between the two peoples and further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand.

On behalf of the Vietnam Education Publishing House, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Education Publishing House, said that the book “Uncle Ho in Thailand” is a work of careful collection and compilation, gathering valuable historical documents, authentic and touching stories about the time President Ho Chi Minh was active in the revolution in the Kingdom of Thailand in the years 1928-1929.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Tung deeply believes that this publication will contribute significantly to educating the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh for generations of Vietnamese people, especially the young generation living, studying and working in Thailand, contributing to affirming the important role of the Vietnamese community abroad, cultural ambassadors, bridges connecting the friendship between Vietnam and countries around the world, including the Kingdom of Thailand.

Speaking on behalf of overseas Vietnamese at the program celebrating the 135th anniversary of Uncle Ho's birthday, Mr. Ho Van Lam, Chairman of the Thai-Vietnamese Business Association, said that although living far from the Fatherland, the hearts of overseas Vietnamese like him always turn towards their homeland, their country, their roots and beloved Vietnam. Mr. Lam believes that preserving the Vietnamese language, Vietnamese culture and Vietnamese history is a way to pass on to children and grandchildren national pride. Books like "Uncle Ho in Thailand" are not only knowledge, but also sacred sentiments from the motherland, reminding "Our people must know our history" as Uncle Ho taught.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sanan Angubolkul - President of the Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association, emotionally said: "With all my heart, I always have the highest respect for President Ho Chi Minh. He is an example not only for overseas Vietnamese living in Thailand, but also for people around the world. The 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday is an opportunity for us to be here today and remember his good qualities."

On this occasion, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh and Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Tung presented the bilingual book “Uncle Ho in Thailand” to representatives of several departments and branches of Udon Thani province, the Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh Monument and Memorial Site, universities, the Vietnam Studies Center, the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese, the Vietnam Linguistics Association and overseas Vietnamese.

Also within the framework of the event, Deputy General Director of Voice of Vietnam Ngo Minh Hien presented two sets of books "Nuoc non van dam" by author Nguyen The Ky, former General Director of Voice of Vietnam, to the Management Board of President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site in Udon Thani province and President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Nakhon Phanom province.
