Before the match, the reigning V-League champion Nam Dinh was rated much higher than HAGL. However, the home team had a resilient match.

HAGL, as usual, defended in depth. Both foreign and domestic players of the mountain town team were ready to play aggressively, blocking dangerous attacking spearheads from Nam Dinh such as naturalized player Nguyen Xuan Son (aka Rafaelson), Nguyen Van Toan and Hendrio.

Having been held back in the first half, Nam Dinh tried to increase the pace in the second half. However, they encountered a deep defense of the mountain town team, plus the excellent performance of young goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien (21 years old).

In the 56th minute, Nguyen Xuan Son turned the ball past the HAGL defense, but the naturalized player's shot from just about ten meters away was still blocked by the quick reflexes of goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien of the home team.

In the 70th minute, former HAGL player now playing for Nam Dinh Club, Hong Duy, crossed the ball from the left wing, Nguyen Xuan Son jumped higher than the home team's defense and headed the ball dangerously from about 9 meters.

However, once again, young goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien had a beautiful flying move, using his fingertips to push the ball over the crossbar, saving HAGL.

At the other end of the field, Mr. Duc's team rarely attacked, but occasionally they still surprised Nam Dinh's defense.

In the 51st minute, Dung Quang Nho shot hard from about 25m, luckily for Nam Dinh, goalkeeper Tran Nguyen Manh of the team from Thanh Nam was able to close the angle in time.

Three minutes before the end of the match, HAGL captain Chau Ngoc Quang headed the ball from a narrow angle, giving goalkeeper Nguyen Manh a scare. But once again, Tran Nguyen Manh closed the angle to block the ball.

Drawing 0-0 with Nam Dinh, HAGL maintained its unbeaten record after the first 3 rounds of LPBank V-League 2024-25, with 2 wins and 1 draw. HAGL still temporarily maintains the top position in the rankings.
