Real Madrid start looking for Ancelotti's replacement

European press reported that Real Madrid Club has agreed to part ways with coach Carlo Ancelotti after the current season ends.

Real Madrid officially became the former Champions League champions after losing 1-2 to Arsenal in the second leg of the quarter-finals in midweek (1-5 on aggregate). Coach Carlo Ancelotti was the focus of criticism for not being able to find a solution to help his team turn the situation around.

The Italian strategist is considered one of the most successful coaches at Real Madrid in the 21st century. He spent two periods leading the team and both times won many major titles, including 3 Champions League titles.

But in the current season, Real Madrid has been in a serious decline when losing the championship race in La Liga as well as being eliminated from the Champions League. The remaining title that can be hoped for is the King's Cup. But their opponent is Barcelona, the team that has won 2 big wins over Real this season.

According to veteran journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic, Coach Ancelotti will definitely leave the coaching position of Real Madrid after 4 years together. The King's Cup title is not enough to help him keep his current position.

And with the decision to part ways with Ancelotti, Real Madrid is also starting to look for a replacement. The most promising candidate is Xabi Alonso, head coach of Bayer Leverkusen.

He is also a former Real Madrid player and has a close relationship with the team. As a coach, he helped Leverkusen become a force in Germany with the Bundesliga championship in the 2023-2024 season. However, Real Madrid will not easily reach an agreement when Leverkusen is said to have offered a very high price for Xabi Alonso.
