Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, has been chosen as the starting point for the 2025 “Walking China” event series, aiming to provide international reporters, artists and influencers with hands-on experiences, thereby vividly introducing the image of modern China to the world.
This series of events is an international media initiative organized by the Asia-Africa Center of China International Television Network (CGTN) in collaboration with many international media agencies.
The opening ceremony took place on May 7 at Hong Hang Wharf in Wuhan City, with the participation of many international reporters, artists, and representatives of diplomatic agencies. In particular, there was the presence of Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh and his wife, along with diplomatic and cultural representatives from Laos, Nepal, Indonesia, and Türkiye.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh affirmed: “Organizing this tour and survey program in Wuhan city is a good opportunity for international friends to have a deeper understanding of the city, thereby enhancing exchanges, learning from each other's experiences and promoting cooperation between countries and Wuhan.”

Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh also emphasized that 2025 is the Year of Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange. Activities such as “Walking in China” are important catalysts for the “friendship between the people” of the two countries to be nurtured and developed.
The Ambassador expressed his hope to continue promoting Wuhan's image to the Vietnamese people, as well as welcoming Chinese people to visit Vietnam. At the same time, the Ambassador highly appreciated the potential for cooperation between Wuhan and Vietnamese localities in areas such as technology, education, digital economy, green economy and transportation.
For his part, Mr. An Xiaowu, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of CGTN and Director of the Asia-Africa Center, introduced Wuhan as a city “with a rich culture, an ideal ecological environment for living and traveling, and full of scientific-technological vitality and innovation.”
From its position as the "crossroads of nine provinces" in ancient times, Wuhan today is clearly showing the image of a modern, open, and inclusive city.
The opening ceremony atmosphere became vibrant and cozy with unique art performances, rich in local and international colors, performed by Chinese artists and international students from 6 countries in Wuhan.

After the art program, delegates together experienced a night cruise on the Yangtze River - an unforgettable highlight, where the sparkling beauty of Wuhan city at night is honored through a special light show on both sides of the river.
With its central location, potential for multi-sectoral cooperation and expansive development vision, Wuhan is becoming an ideal destination for cultural dialogue, people-to-people connection and international cooperation.
“Strolling China - Discovering Wuhan” is not only a media event, but also a bridge to strengthen friendship, bringing practical cooperation opportunities between China and friendly countries, including Vietnam./.
