Hotel History

The history of the hotel began in 1901 when Mr. Henri Bogaert, owner of Long Tho brick and tile factory, started construction under the name "Grand Hotel de Hue". At that time, in addition to serving tourists, Saigon Morin Hotel also played the role of "guest house" of the Southern Dynasty government and the protectorate government, the Central agency. The hotel quickly became the commercial, cultural and tourist center of the Hue capital during the Nguyen Dynasty.

In 1904, the hotel was severely damaged by a storm in the year of the Dragon. Mr. Bogeart had it repaired and transferred ownership to the capitalist A. Guerin. In 1907, the hotel was transferred to the Morin brothers, named "Morin Frère" (Morin brothers hotel). The name Morin has been associated with the hotel's history since then until today.

Before the August Revolution, the hotel had 70 bedrooms, a 120-seat restaurant, a coffee shop, a wine bar, a butcher shop, a cinema, a sewing workshop, a large warehouse...

By 1957, the hotel was a base for Hue University. After liberation, it continued to be a base for Hue University. By 1991, the hotel was handed over to Thua Thien Hue Tourism Company and welcomed backpackers and independent tourists.

With the consent of the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province, Saigontourist Morin Hue Company was established as a joint venture between the Finance and Administration Board of Thua Thien - Hue Provincial Party Committee and Saigon Tourist Company with a capital contribution ratio of 50/50, renovating and upgrading into a 3-star hotel with 127 bedrooms.

Since October 2002, Saigon Morin Hotel has upgraded some items to meet 4-star hotel standards.

In June 2004, the hotel was upgraded with 1 more floor, 1 large hall, 1 royal dining room, 1 European and Asian restaurant, 1 garden restaurant, Gallery, massage and sauna area, gym, swimming pool...
