Recently, public opinion was stirred up by the fact that the house of Tran Thi Bich Ngan (commonly known as "Ngan Collagen") in Hung Phu ward, Can Tho city had many people gathered outside to take photos and livestream (record live video ) on the afternoon of October 18.
Because too many people gathered, the Hung Phu ward militia later appeared and asked the crowd to disperse.
The move came after Vo Thi Ngoc Ngan (aka DJ Ngan 98) was prosecuted and temporarily detained for producing and trading in counterfeit food products. Previously, "Ngan Collagen" and "Ngan 98" had repeatedly attacked each other online about the quality of the functional foods they both sold.
Even a few months ago, "Ngan Collagen" was discovered by the Food Safety Department, Ministry of Health to be advertising in violation of regulations on some functional foods. Therefore, many opinions expressed questions about whether the products produced by "Ngan Collagen" company have been tested for quality or not?
Speaking to reporters, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City food safety management agency said that since May, this agency has sent forces to inspect the company of "Ngan Collagen" in District 8 (old), now Phu Dinh Ward (Ho Chi Minh City).
However, at that time, the company had stopped operating, so it was not possible to check or sample the products.
Currently, the authorities continue to review and see if the company's products are still distributed on the market, as well as whether it has any other locations of operation.

According to the Food Safety Department, the two products Apple candy to eliminate belly fat and N-collagen Chanh Plus have misleading advertisements about their uses (Screenshot).
Previously, in May, the Food Safety Department informed that through post-inspection of food product announcement and advertisement, this agency discovered that a number of products of N - Collagen Import Export Company Limited (located at 28 Lot B, Phu Dinh River Port Resettlement Area, Ward 16, old District 8, HCMC) advertised by individual "Ngan Collagen" violated regulations.
Specifically, the two products "Apple candy to eliminate belly fat" and "N-collagen Chanh Plus" were advertised in a misleading way about their uses, advertising the products as medicines... The label images of these two products on the internet state that the product group is a dietary supplement.
The Food Safety Department said: "On the online public service software, we have not yet issued a Certificate of Product Declaration Registration and a Certificate of Advertising Content Confirmation for the products named "Apple Candy to Eliminate Belly Fat" and N-collagen Chanh Plus".
Through review, the management agency discovered that the above 2 products were exclusively distributed by N - Collagen Import Export Company Limited, with the units responsible for product quality and distribution being companies in Hanoi .
Therefore, the Food Safety Department has issued an official dispatch requesting the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety and the Hanoi Department of Food Safety and Hygiene to urgently inspect and verify the production activities of the above products, take samples for testing to determine banned substances (if any) for handling according to regulations.
Discovered another product An Phe Dan advertised exaggeratedly as medicine

Mr. Nguyen Hai Nam informed about the inspection of An Phe Dan product (Photo: HL).
At the press conference on the socio-economic situation of Ho Chi Minh City held on the afternoon of October 23, a representative of the Department of Health provided information related to the product An Phe Dan - a product that has caused a stir in public opinion recently because of advertisements stating its uses in treating pneumonia, asthma, bronchitis... with the commitment to "cure the disease, use only once, stop using Western medicine for life".
Mr. Nguyen Hai Nam, Acting Chief of Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said that through the drug and drug ingredient registration lookup portal of the Drug Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Health), the product An Phe Dan is not on the list of drugs granted registration numbers for circulation in Vietnam.
According to the provisions of the Law on Pharmacy and related documents, drugs are only allowed to circulate when they are granted a registration number by the Ministry of Health or have an import license.
"Therefore, advertising products and content related to the treatment drug An Phe Dan without permission for circulation is a violation of the provisions of the 2012 Advertising Law," Mr. Nam emphasized.
