Responding to Tuoi Tre , a representative of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) said that in the face of the flood situation, the ministry and its affiliated units have proactively implemented many solutions to ensure the supply of essential goods, contributing to stabilizing the market and supporting people in affected areas.
Accordingly, the ministry has issued dispatches requesting the Department of Industry and Trade of provinces and cities to urgently review deeply flooded areas and areas at risk of flash floods and landslides to develop appropriate plans for stockpiling and supplying goods; be ready to ensure the supply of food, drinking water, and essential necessities for people, especially in isolated areas. The consistent guiding principle is to prevent shortages of goods to serve the people.
The Department of Domestic Market Management and Development also issued a document requesting the Department of Industry and Trade of provinces and cities to focus on responding to floods.
Emphasizing the need to ensure supply and restore points of sale: Review damage at markets, supermarkets, and gas stations and coordinate to restore operations soon. Urge supermarket systems, distribution businesses, and gas traders to increase reserves of food, beverages, and essential goods.
Proactively coordinate goods sources from neighboring localities to promptly supply affected areas, avoiding local shortages. Prioritize specialized means of transport: For areas isolated by landslides or deep flooding, it is necessary to coordinate with functional forces to use specialized means such as waterways, specialized vehicles or air transport to transport goods and bring necessities to people.
Coordinate with market management forces and specialized agencies to strengthen inspection and strictly handle acts of hoarding, speculation, unreasonable price increases and other violations that may affect consumer rights in the context of natural disasters.
At the same time, the Department of Industry and Trade is required to quickly report the quantity of goods in stock and the supply and demand situation in each area so that the Department can have a basis to coordinate reasonable sources of goods and promptly support areas heavily affected by floods.

Supermarket systems said that although the supply of vegetables has decreased, it is still enough to meet demand, and prices have not increased as much as in retail markets - Photo: SGC
Vegetable supply to the market has slightly decreased, but supermarkets are still abundant.
According to records in many retail markets, vegetable prices are still quite high, most of which are 2-3 times higher than normal. Meanwhile, information from Binh Dien wholesale market (HCMC) said that the supply of vegetables and fruits to the market has decreased slightly compared to before, but the selling prices change hourly, with some items increasing sharply.
A representative of Thu Duc Agricultural Wholesale Market (HCMC) said that the average amount of vegetables imported into the market is about 1,500 tons/night, a decrease of 150-200 tons compared to normal, and the wholesale price at the market is 2-3 times higher than normal. However, the supply and prices of vegetables at supermarket systems are relatively stable.
MM Mega Market representative said that thanks to the cooperation of suppliers, reasonable transportation and storage policies... the supply of vegetables is generally stable, prices do not fluctuate much, 20-25% lower than the market.
According to gardeners, many vegetable growing areas in the Central and Northern regions were severely damaged by storms and floods and need time to recover, while the largest vegetable growing area in the country, supplying many places, Lam Dong, was also severely damaged by flooding. Therefore, the prices of many types of vegetables will be difficult to cool down in the near future.
Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in addition to the impact of floods, the increase in vegetable prices is partly due to the situation of "following the flow" from sellers.
"Therefore, the stabilizing role of retail businesses is very important. Businesses can inform the industry and trade sector, we will record and transfer to relevant departments and sectors to soon support and improve the situation," said Mr. Phuong.
Egg prices are high
According to information from many farms, due to high demand, the selling price of industrial chicken eggs is quite high, 2,650-2,750 VND/egg depending on the type, an increase of 200-300 VND compared to a few days ago and a sharp increase compared to the price of 1,700-1,800 VND/egg of last year.
