
According to the General Statistics Office, the industrial production index (IIP) in October is estimated to increase by 2.4% over the previous month and 10.8% over the same period in 2024, showing a strong recovery in most industry groups. Of which, the processing and manufacturing industry - the main pillar of the industry - increased by 11.4%; mining increased by 3.1%; electricity production and distribution increased by 11%; water supply, waste and wastewater treatment increased by 12.2%.
In the first 10 months of 2025, the industry-wide IIP increased by 9.2%, higher than the 8.3% increase in the same period last year. The largest contribution belonged to the processing and manufacturing industry, increasing by 10.5%, contributing 8.5 percentage points to the overall growth; followed by the electricity production and distribution industry, increasing by 6.8%, contributing 0.6 percentage points. The water supply and waste treatment industry increased by 9%, while the mining industry decreased slightly by 0.1%.
Some key secondary industries achieved high growth rates compared to the same period last year, including: Motor vehicle production increased by 23.5%; rubber - plastic increased by 17.3%; other non-metallic mineral products increased by 16.8%; metal increased by 13.8%; clothing increased by 13.3%....
On the contrary, the IIP index of some industries increased slightly or decreased, such as machinery and equipment manufacturing increased slightly by 3.9%, coal mining increased by 3.4%, while crude oil and natural gas exploitation decreased by 4.1%.
Locally, the 10-month IIP increased in 34 provinces and cities. Major industrial centers such as Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City... recorded a good increase thanks to the expansion of the processing, manufacturing and energy sectors.
Many key industrial products had high growth rates in the 10 months such as: Automobiles increased by 42.2%, TVs increased by 19.6%, rolled steel increased by 17.7%, cement and aquatic feed both increased by 14.6%, ready-made garments increased by 14.3%, leather footwear increased by 12.8%, gasoline increased by 11.3%...
The number of employees working in industrial enterprises as of October 1, 2025 increased by 0.8% compared to the same period last month and by 3.6% compared to the same period last year. Of which, the corresponding rates of State-owned enterprises increased by 0.1% and 2.6%; foreign-invested enterprises increased by 0.9% and 4.1%; non-State enterprises increased by 1% and 2.2%.
