According to analysis by experts, in the agricultural production process, people use a lot of chemicals, chemical fertilizers, pesticides, veterinary drugs... causing serious impacts, polluting the land, water sources and creating agricultural products of uncertain quality. Therefore, in order to create quality agricultural products, suitable for consumers' tastes, cooperatives, businesses and people in the province have built safe agricultural production models, applying environmentally friendly measures.

Thieu Hoa Commune is considered one of the province's key vegetable production areas, supplying the market with thousands of tons of vegetables, tubers, and fruits of all kinds each year. To create a brand for the vegetable area, Thieu Hung Agricultural Service Cooperative has proactively supported members and encouraged local people to develop agricultural production in a safe and environmentally friendly direction. Along with that, the Cooperative has built dozens of greenhouses and net houses, with a total area of about 15,000 m2 for high-tech production. In addition to production activities, the Cooperative also manages 25.5 hectares of safe vegetables according to VietGAP standards of the local people. Director of Thieu Hung Agricultural Service Cooperative, Nguyen Van Duong said: "To create a unique direction and produce green, safe, and environmentally friendly agricultural products, the Cooperative has invested in developing a model of growing vegetables, tubers, and fruits in greenhouses, strictly applying VietGAP production processes. At the same time, guiding people to implement care and pest control measures in a "natural" direction and not using pesticides or chemical fertilizers in the production process. This not only creates quality products but also protects the living environment and health of producers."

It is known that, with the development of production associated with environmental protection, Thieu Hung Agricultural Service Cooperative and local people have created products suitable to the consumer tastes of the market. Every year, the Cooperative supplies the market with thousands of tons of vegetables, tubers, and fruits of all kinds, with an average profit of 300 - 400 million VND/ha/year. In particular, with the area of net houses for producing cantaloupes and baby cucumbers, it can bring in profits of 800 million to 1 billion VND/ha/year.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Thuy, Ward 6, Thieu Hoa Commune, said: "My family has nearly 1,500m2 of greenhouse and about 4 sao of vegetables, tubers and fruits produced according to VietGAP standards. To limit environmental pollution in production, my family strictly complies with VietGAP production regulations such as: correct type, correct dosage, correct time, correct method when using fertilizers and pesticides; prioritize the use of organic fertilizers, microbial fertilizers and biological pesticides to minimize negative impacts on the soil and water environment and create "green" products suitable for market needs."

Not only in Thieu Hoa commune, but also in the province, many localities have encouraged and supported people and cooperatives to promote the application of scientific and technical advances in production, converting to organic production, ensuring people's health. Up to now, the whole province has more than 220 hectares of greenhouses and net houses; 2,500 hectares of production with VietGAP certification; nearly 20 hectares of crops meeting organic standards and about 5,100 hectares of crops produced in an organic direction. In addition, in the field of livestock, 75% of pig farms, 72% of poultry farms and 100% of dairy farms have applied VietGAP processes, biosafety and disease control. These models not only create a source of clean food but also bring economic efficiency 15-20% higher than traditional production methods, and especially limit environmental pollution.

In reality, the development of green, safe agricultural models associated with environmental protection often has very high costs. Therefore, the problem of income in green agricultural production is still a major concern for cooperatives and producers. Mr. Mai Ngoc Ha, Head of the Economic Department, Nga Son Commune People's Committee, said: "Environmentally friendly agricultural production has become a trend and is being widely replicated in the locality. In order to form an effective mindset of agricultural production associated with environmental protection, the commune has promoted and replicated models of crop and livestock restructuring to adapt to climate change; strictly controlled the circulation and use of plant protection drugs. At the same time, coordinated the organization of training courses on crop, livestock and aquaculture adaptation to climate change to raise people's awareness of environmental protection in agricultural production and effectively applied it to production".

In the direction of agricultural development, Thanh Hoa province always encourages the development of circular agricultural models, reuse and recycle agricultural waste and by-products to form a closed production cycle, minimize waste, and protect the environment. Therefore, the agricultural sector continues to coordinate with functional sectors and localities to promote good experiences, methods and creative ways in agriculture associated with environmental protection. At the same time, create favorable conditions to attract businesses to invest in the field of green agriculture, encourage the development of more high-tech agricultural models.

Along with that, departments, branches and localities need to support producers in applying measures to reuse and recycle organic waste and agricultural by-products into fuels and environmentally friendly products. From there, contributing to the transformation of thinking from traditional production, from not paying attention to by-product sources and the environment to production according to the circular economic model, reusing resources effectively and sustainably associated with market demand among the people.
