Landslides affect the lives of people in Phong Nha commune

QTO - Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, in Phong Nha commune, the infrastructure system, especially traffic roads, was damaged, affecting people's lives and activities.

After the floods, the riverbank section passing through Thanh Sen 1 village, Phong Nha commune, eroded deeply into the roadside, about 15 meters from people's houses, so the local authorities had to erect temporary bamboo barriers as a warning.

Mr. Nguyen The Vinh, Head of Thanh Sen Village 1, Phong Nha Commune, said that local children often cross this road to go to school. After the recent floods, the landslide situation has become more complicated, affecting the lives of local people as well as the travel and study of students at Phuc Trach Primary School No. 2.

“In the past, people planted bamboo to prevent erosion, but with the current serious erosion situation, we hope that authorities at all levels will pay attention to solving this problem, ensuring people's travel and daily activities,” said Mr. Nguyen The Vinh.

Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, some roads in Phong Nha commune have eroded the roadbed and road surface, affecting the daily life and travel of people. Currently, the whole commune has 9 landslide points, such as: North bank of Son river in Na residential group with a length of about 40m, deeply eating into the roadside and road surface; rural traffic routes in Thanh Sen village 2, Phuc Khe village 3, Xuan Trach village 4, 5 and 10; Lam Trach village 6

Mr. Phan Hai Ha, Chairman of Phong Nha Commune People's Committee, said that the total damage caused by natural disasters in the commune is estimated at over 30 billion VND. Faced with the situation of eroded roads, the local government promptly propagandized and warned people to limit the movement of people and vehicles.

“In the context of budget difficulties, local authorities and people hope that all levels and sectors will pay attention to supporting funding to promptly repair landslide areas to ensure people's safety and at the same time create favorable conditions for people's travel,” Mr. Phan Hai Ha suggested.
