In early November, the Vietnamese gaming community was abuzz with the release of Anh Hai's Pho Restaurant . This game, which simulates the work of selling pho and combines horror elements, quickly became a sensation despite being completely free to play, thanks to its humorous portrayal of distinctive Vietnamese cultural elements.
The success of Anh Hai Pho Restaurant stems from its nostalgic graphics, short gameplay duration, and numerous unexpected endings. Following that success, the gaming community both domestically and internationally has welcomed another purely Vietnamese game project, Night Shippers.
Night Shippers is an indie game from the studio "Young Buffalo". This game blends the "shipper" culture in Vietnam with horror co-op gameplay, inspired by the popular game REPO .

In the game, players take on the role of a delivery driver operating in a supernatural, spiritual world . Their main task is to accept orders, navigate dark alleyways, avoid ghosts, and deliver goods to customers – who are spirits residing in various areas. Orders vary, from food and drinks (bubble tea, birthday cakes) to computer equipment.
Night Shippers stands out for its skillful recreation of iconic Vietnamese imagery such as narrow alleyways, yellow streetlights, the sounds of motorbikes, and night vendors' calls, but placed within a mystical setting inspired by Vietnamese and Asian folklore.
Another interesting feature is that the shop owners are inspired by many famous characters, from the landlady in the movie Kung Fu Hustle to T1 player Faker. The game even features a fun cameo appearance from Anh Hai Pho Restaurant .

Night Shippers ' horror element comes from the creatures the player encounters, most notably the "Puppets." These creatures have the ability to "deal with" the player with a single grab, and the only way to neutralize them is to stare directly at them.
This requires players to work together as a team to deliver goods while avoiding hazards. Additionally, players can collect recyclable materials to sell for extra income – a distinctly Vietnamese detail – in order to meet company targets after three nights of work.
In just one month, the demo version of Night Shippers attracted over 20,000 downloads, mostly from overseas markets. This interest was further boosted after popular YouTubers like Mithzan (who has over 800,000 subscribers) and many Vietnamese and international streamers shared their gaming experiences.
Night Shippers is considered one of the most promising independent Vietnamese game projects with strong potential for international market expansion. A demo version is currently available on Steam, and the official release is expected in March 2026.
