Students of Ly Nhon Primary School use clean water at school.
Now, the people of Ly Nhon commune (a remote area in Ho Chi Minh City) are very happy because their dream of having clean water for daily use has been fulfilled, when water meters providing safe clean water have been installed in front of their houses to serve their daily needs. In particular, many families living far from residential areas have also had water pipes brought to their homes, ending the long-standing shortage of clean water.
Mr. Doan Hoa Binh , Vice Chairman of Ly Nhon Commune People's Committee, said that the entire Ly Nhon commune has nearly 1,630 households living mainly on salt production and aquaculture. Previously, people mainly used water from satellites. There were times of scarcity, the price of water exchanged from tank trucks sometimes reached up to 100,000 VND/m³. However, up to now, about 50% of people in Ly Nhon commune have had new water meters installed by Can Gio Water Supply Enterprise and have been provided with clean water. The remaining part is being implemented by the water supply unit.
Mr. Binh highly appreciated SAWACO and Can Gio Water Supply Company for their efforts in developing water pipelines to bring clean water to every household. According to Mr. Binh, since clean water was supplied to their homes, people have been very excited. This activity has contributed to stabilizing people's lives and helping develop the local economy .
Mr. Tran Van Tuc, Director of Can Gio Water Supply Enterprise, said that in order to bring SAWACO's clean water to the people of Ly Nhon commune, SAWACO's Board of Directors has resolutely directed the investment of more than 23 km of D280mm pipeline from Rung Sac road to Ly Nhon commune and the distribution pipeline system with a total investment of more than 70 billion VND. In 2023, the enterprise aims to install 1,000 new water meters for customers to ensure safe and continuous water supply for the people of Can Gio district, mainly concentrated in Ly Nhon commune.
According to Mr. Tuc, to speed up the installation of new water meters for customers from the transferred satellites, reduce travel time for people and improve customer service quality, the unit has sent staff directly to the hamlets to guide the procedures for installing water meters and collect customers' water meter installation requests.
People in Can Gio District who need to use clean water can register for the water meter installation service by registering at the office of Can Gio Water Supply Enterprise (address: No. 2 Rung Sac, An Nghia Hamlet, An Thoi Dong Commune, Can Gio District). You can contact by phone (number 0974247139 to meet Mr. Tien) or hotline 19002118 , register for the service online at the website: capnuoccangio.com.vn .
Sharing the joy with the people who have been provided with safe clean water, teachers and students of Ly Nhon Kindergarten are delighted that clean water is fully provided. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Han, Principal of Ly Nhon Kindergarten, shared that for nearly 10 years since she took up her duties at the school, she and the teachers have always been worried about the lack of clean water to serve the children.
According to Ms. Ngoc Han, previously, clean water at the school was provided by satellites. However, because the school is located at the end of the source, it is often weak and lacking. When there is a shortage of water, the school has to exchange water from tankers at a price of 70,000 VND/m³. On average, each year the school has to spend nearly 30 million VND to exchange clean water from tankers to serve the needs of the children.
At Ly Nhon Primary School, for nearly a month now, students have begun to learn to swim at the swimming pool invested by the school. Accordingly, more than 6 months ago, the school invested in a swimming pool to teach swimming to students, however, due to the lack of clean water, the pool could not be put into use. Only when clean water from the source provided by Can Gio Water Supply Company was available, did the school fill the pool with water for students to practice swimming.
