Special Champion
Scottie Scheffler , the best golfer on the planet today, has an ontological paradox.
He stunned the world with his performance at The Open Championship 2025 , winning his fourth major title at the age of 29 – a statement of golf dominance not seen since Tiger Woods.

But the feeling of joy, he said, “only lasted a few minutes.” “I hugged my wife, my friends and my family. Then I asked, ‘What’s for dinner?’”
It was a brief moment in time for Scheffler to celebrate being at the top and surrounded by fame.
Soon after, Scheffler wanted to go back to being Scottie – Meredith's husband, Bennett's father – and strolling around the 18th green at Royal Portrush with his son.

There was Scottie the athlete, and there was Scottie the man. The first was the perfect golfer, virtually unbeatable, the PGA Tour icon, the man who held the world No. 1 ranking for 150 consecutive weeks, the man who won all four majors by at least three strokes.
The second was a Texas guy who stopped going to a Chipotle restaurant near his home because he didn't like being recognized, so he drove farther to another store in the same chain.
Scheffler sat next to the Claret Jug trophy at Royal Portrush on Sunday and reflected on the dual personalities that coexist within him.
Two versions
Speaking about the golfer version, he emphasized the passion he has always had for this sport : “I have worked all my life to play golf well. No joke, since I was 2, 3 years old.

As a kid in Texas, I always dreamed of becoming a professional golfer. I always wore long pants on the course because the professional golfers on TV – Justin Leonard, Harrison Frazar – wore long pants.
I wanted to be like them. Even though it was 38 degrees, I still wore long pants. People laughed at me. But that's what I wanted to do, I wanted to be a professional golfer, so I wore long pants."
It was a late rise to the top compared to many other stars. Scheffler only really broke out in the last four years, but since then he has been unstoppable.
When it comes to who he really is, Scottie himself says: “Success in life, in golf, cannot satisfy the deepest desires of my heart.

I don't consider myself a golfer. I don't define myself by winning or being famous. That's not what motivates me. When I wake up every day, what motivates me is living my dream."
normal life
Scheffler is not the type of golfer number one like Tiger Woods, who has a strong personality.
He is also not like Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy or Jon Rahm – who have all topped the rankings. Scheffler has a different kind of charisma, quiet, reserved, almost anonymous.
“In some circles, I'm the best golfer in the world. At The Open, I'm the best. I'm sitting here with the trophy,” Scheffler explained.

“But I don't feel different because of that. I try to live as normal a life as possible because I feel like a normal person."
The comparisons to Woods came as Scheffler won back-to-back majors. There's even an interesting historical parallel: 1,197 days passed between Tiger's first and Scheffler's fourth major titles.
The 2025 Open champion dismissed any parallels. “Nonsense. Tiger is unique in this sport.” He may be right. But one thing is certain: behind Scottie is Scheffler.
Inside that devout, family-oriented, humble man is a fierce warrior and the world's best golfer.
