SEA Games 32: "Unique" Indonesian eSport team withdrew, still won VALORANT gold and no silver medal

After the VALORANT final on the evening of May 10, the 32nd SEA Games Organizing Committee announced that the Singapore and Indonesia eSport teams won the same gold medal and no team won the silver medal. In addition, the Vietnamese team, despite losing to the Philippines, was also awarded the third place.

Entering the final, Singapore won the first game with a score of 13-8. In the second game, Singapore was leading 10-4 when the match was suspended. At that time, the Indonesian team believed that their opponents used a "game bug" to determine their position and gave up the match.

This morning, the Indonesian team's brand ambassador at the 32nd SEA Games, Juanita Zelia Valezka Tanjung, explained the team's decision to skip the final match to "protect the nation's honor."

Mr. Tjahjono Prasetyanto - Head of the Indonesian National E-Sports Delegation, explained the surprise with 2 gold medals in 1 final match: "We had a meeting chaired by SEAGF (Southeast Asian Sports Federation). They suggested to us that there would be two gold medals for Indonesia and Singapore. On the basis of maintaining relations between countries, between Indonesia and Singapore and we accepted that. This process is taking place administratively and in stages. This has been sent by SEAGF to the 32nd SEA Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC), CAMSOC sent to the eSport organizing committee".

The sensitive gold medal in VALORANT is the first gold medal of the Indonesian eSport team at this congress. Before that, they lost in the final match of the CrossFire event to the Vietnamese team and received a silver medal.

Before entering the VALORANT finals, Singapore was the team that won against Vietnam in the semi-finals. Vietnam entered the third-place match with the Philippines and once again lost with a score of 2-0.
