That is to increase the reserve of essential goods many times, reinforce facilities, and meet the food storage needs of people in the Central region during stormy days.

A representative of the MM Mega Market Vietnam system said that the centers in the areas directly affected by the storm such as MM Mega Market Vinh, Depot Thanh Hoa and Depot Dong Hoi (formerly Quang Binh ) and in the areas indirectly affected are all fully prepared with goods and human resources.

"Essential goods are also given priority to ensure timely supply. We have also applied safety measures such as reinforcing facilities, increasing inspections of electrical systems, preventing flooding and rearranging goods in high areas to avoid being affected by storms and rains," he said.

Meanwhile, a representative of Lotte Mart said that one of the supermarkets expected to be in the area affected by storm No. 10, Lotte Mart in Vinh City, has proactively removed billboards, banners and cut down and trimmed trees around the supermarket area to ensure safety for shoppers.

In recent days, customers have tended to buy more essential products to stock up on food before storm No. 10, the number of customers has increased by about 15% compared to normal days. Therefore, Lotte Mart in Vinh has cooperated closely with suppliers to increase the quantity of goods by 4-5 times compared to usual for vegetables, meat, fish, instant noodles...

"Many items such as pork, chicken, beef, salmon, fruits such as apples, bananas, mangoes, and watermelons are also discounted to meet customers' shopping needs during this time," a representative of this unit informed.

Mr. Vo Tran Ngoc, sales director of Saigon Co.op , said that at supermarkets and points of sale located in areas affected by the storm, the supply of essential goods such as instant noodles, instant food, liquid milk, bread, etc. has been increased by 2-3 times the normal level. In addition, it is expected that on the night of September 27, the South will increase the number of trucks to support the Central region and from Hanoi will also transport more vegetables, chicken, etc. into this storm area.

"We had scenarios in place to ensure everything was stable before the storm hit. In addition to increasing our reserves in warehouses in the provinces in the eye of the storm, we also stocked goods in neighboring provinces to be able to provide support when needed," said Mr. Ngoc.

Many retail systems also affirm that they are very confident in the supply of processed foods, dried foods, and frozen foods because they can be stored for a long time and easily increased when needed.

"However, in terms of green vegetables and fruits, in the old Lam Dong (a locality that supplies vegetables to many provinces in the Central region), the output of many types of vegetables has decreased sharply due to prolonged heavy rains. Retailers are looking for alternative sources of supply for localities in the eye of the storm, to avoid shortages of leafy vegetables and high prices," said a sales director of a supermarket.
