The program met and exchanged with a typical example in social security work, Mr. Truong Ngoc Son, born in 1995, residing in Binh Thanh hamlet, Hoa Nghia commune (Cho Lach), Head of Ngoc Son Volunteer Group.
At the meeting, Head of Ngoc Son Volunteer Group Truong Ngoc Son shared about the idea and motivation to establish Ngoc Son Volunteer Group, a situation that needs support that left a deep impression on him. The volunteer activities that the group will focus on in the coming time, his feelings when Ben Tre Provincial Youth Union awarded certificates of merit as well as certificates of merit continuously for 2 years (2023 and 2024), a few words to the members and students present at the exchange meeting.
The program also met and shared the difficult situation of overcoming learning difficulties of Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi, a student of class 10A1, Doan Thi Diem High School (Tan Phong commune, Thanh Phu district).
Yen Nhi's family is one of the poorest in the locality, with only over half a hectare of coconut land and an average income of about 500,000 VND/month. Nguyen Van Cuong, born in 1990, is Yen Nhi's half-brother, living far from home with an unstable job as a hired freight transporter, and sends her from 500,000 to 1 million VND every few months. Therefore, her daily food expenses are all supported by neighbors and the local government, who has actively mobilized benefactors and philanthropists to support her.
Since childhood, Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi has lived with her maternal grandmother, Nguyen Thi Hai (born in 1942) in Qui Thanh hamlet, Quoi Dien commune, Thanh Phu district. Yen Nhi's biological mother, Nguyen Thi Ha, born in 1969, had a broken marriage and was a single mother, working as a hired hand in Ho Chi Minh City to earn money to send back to her hometown to raise her two children with a different father. In 2021, Ms. Ha suddenly passed away after more than 4 months of suffering from a serious illness. In 2023, Yen Nhi mourned for her maternal grandmother with a mental shock and her father, Cao Minh Vu (living in Thoi hamlet, Dai Dien commune) who passed away due to a stroke.
Through the program, organizations, individuals, and benefactors have donated more than 37 million VND to provide practical support in daily life as well as to continue Yen Nhi's studies and fulfill her dream of becoming a preschool teacher.
