(Dan Tri) - After students protested that having an IELTS certificate still required them to pay for English classes at the school, Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport adjusted that those with an IELTS certificate are exempted from English classes at the corresponding level.
On December 12, information from Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport said that the school has decided to adjust the regulations on exemption from English courses. Students with IELTS certificates will be exempted from English courses at the corresponding level.
The above adjustment of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport was made after student reactions about the school not accepting IELTS certificates.
Some students were upset and cried when they had an IELTS certificate of 7-7.5 but the school still required them to study the English program organized by the school with a fee.

At that time, the school explained that many of the school's specific majors required specialized English proficiency such as maritime, transportation logistics... In particular, the school's training program integrated international certificates FIATA, IATA, so these organizations required very high specialized English.
Regarding English teaching at school, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, said that in the certificate system of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, there is no English UTH certificate.
The school has a regular English language bachelor's program that has been assessed and is allowed to enroll students from 2022.
The supplementary English program for students of non-English majors is built on the foundation of a standard English training system that has been assessed, evaluated and approved by the school's Scientific and Training Council, including experts, scientists and businesses in the field of transportation, to suit the learning target.
