Students call for startup capital, 'sharks' invest right in the classroom

The students' startup ideas and fiery presentations made the "sharks" nod their heads in agreement to invest right in the lecture hall.

On May 28, the final round of the "Student Startup - Leading the Future" competition took place at the University of Education (University of Danang ), with direct capital calls from students and the appearance of "sharks" (investors, experienced experts).

Many potential startup ideas

This year’s competition attracted 59 startup projects from many essential fields such as industry, agriculture , education, healthcare, AI technology, blockchain and smart cities. Notably, students from most faculties and all courses from first to fourth year were enthusiastic to participate.

After the preliminary round, 22 teams were selected for the semi-finals, undergoing intensive training with experts. The 5 best projects continued to compete in the final round.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu - Vice Principal of the University of Education (University of Danang) - said that the competition not only creates an academic playground but also a journey of practical experience, helping students develop strategic thinking, critical thinking, presentation and project management skills.

In the final round, many ideas were highly evaluated for both feasibility and commercialization potential. Some projects also received investment commitments from entrepreneurs.

Typically, the spirulina mask project of a group of students from the Biology - Agriculture - Environment and Physics - Chemistry departments received two investment offers right after the presentation.

Mr. Vu Tien Dung - Investment Director of FUNDGO Da Nang Fund - assessed: "The project has great potential, suitable for current consumer trends. If safety criteria and certification are ensured, we are ready to accompany to bring the product to supermarket shelves, spa chains...".

Another impressive project is "Cuu Long Aspiration" by a group of students from the history - geography - politics department .

Nhat Long, the group leader, shared: "We want to bring the art of hát bội, which is gradually being forgotten, closer to young people, by designing character models from ancient plays in a youthful style, packaged in 'mysterious' boxes. Buyers will not know which character they will receive until they open the box, which stimulates curiosity and passion for collecting."

Spirulina mask won first prize

In the final results, the organizing committee awarded the following prizes:

- First prize: Project "LAVÉSKIN_ Pure by Nature. Perfected by Science" - spirulina algae mask by a group of students from the faculty of biology - agriculture - environment and physics - chemistry.

- Second prize: Project "Support for identification and quantification of Vibrio bacteria in shrimp ponds" - student of biology - agriculture - environment.

- Third prize: Project "Providing solutions and constructing a system to collect floating waste on the water surface, combined with separating oil slicks" - student of the Faculty of Biology - Agriculture - Environment.

- Encouragement prize: Project "Applying AI to diagnose type 2 diabetes" - student of mathematics - information technology. Project "Aspiration of Cuu Long" - student of history - geography - politics.

During the 2025 Science, Technology and Innovation Startup Festival, Da Nang University of Education organized an exhibition of typical science and technology products of students, a discussion on the implementation plan of Resolution 57 of the Politburo, a discussion on "Startup Journey and Creating Positive Values ​​for the Community", honoring lecturers and students with international publications, scientific topics, inventions, research and startup awards at all levels.
