The RedMagic 11 Pro is scheduled to launch in the US on November 3, introducing the world to some truly cutting-edge technology.

The new smartphone is aimed primarily at mobile gamers. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 SoC, widely considered the world's fastest mobile chipset, along with a dedicated RedCore R4 graphics chip.

The machine's most groundbreaking feature, however, is its “world's first mass-produced” liquid cooling system, which combines with a real heatsink fan to keep this powerful processor running efficiently.

Liquid cooling has been used in PCs for decades, although it's generally only needed for the intense processing tasks involved in gaming and content creation. However, until the RedMagic 11 Pro came out, most phones didn't use liquid cooling or fans.

The closest smartphones have come to this is vapor chamber cooling. Since their CPUs generate less heat than PCs, smartphones typically rely on passive cooling, where heat is naturally dissipated throughout the components. That’s why you might notice your phone heating up when running multiple heavy apps at once.

However, it seems that mobile processors have moved beyond passive cooling. Today, the fastest phones in the US are powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite processors – the RedMagic 11 Pro uses the latest (5th generation) version. As new phones combine powerful processors with dedicated graphics chips, liquid cooling becomes a must. The RedMagic 11 Pro happens to be the first.

Powerful configuration exclusively for new generation gamers

Despite being miniaturized to fit inside the phone, the RedMagic 11 Pro's AquaCore liquid cooling system is essentially the same as the ones used in servers and PCs. In fact, you can even see the liquid moving through the pipes on the back of the phone, just like on many high-end gaming PCs. To dissipate heat, a 24,000 RPM fan blows air out the back.

Surprisingly, Nubia – the company behind the RedMagic line – has managed to keep the phone relatively slim, measuring 8.9mm thick and weighing 230 grams.

The device also has a large 7,500mAh battery, which according to the company's announcement, can provide more than 13 hours of continuous gaming.

Many versions, high price corresponding to performance

Nubia has yet to officially announce the global release of the Pro+. Additionally, the company appears to have quietly reduced the battery capacity from 8,000mAh to 7,500mAh on the global version to comply with trade regulations.

The global pricing of the RedMagic 11 Pro has not yet been determined, but it is expected to be similar to the Chinese version. In China, the base version with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage costs around $700, while the 16GB/512GB version costs around $800.

If the Pro+ doesn’t get a global release, Western users can still hope for some of its upgraded features to be included. In China, the top-end Pro+ version has 24GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage, and costs over $1,000 – a price that’s considered worthy of hardcore mobile gamers.
