More than 18,000 athletes, including nearly 1,300 international athletes from 55 countries, are ready to participate in the Standard Chartered Marathon Heritage Hanoi 2024 on November 3. Photo: Internet.

The number of athletes this year increased by 150% compared to last season and is a record number recorded at marathons in Vietnam. The running routes of the tournament are designed to comply with the standards of the world's leading running races, with all routes of 4 distances (5km-10km-21km-42km) certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Running (AIMS). Starting from Thien Quang Lake area, athletes will run through the mossy, ancient corners of Hanoi's 36 streets, through the roads along West Lake considered one of the most beautiful check-in spots in the capital, to the roads representing a dynamic Hanoi, developing every day in the districts of Hai Ba Trung, Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Tay Ho of Hanoi.

Standard Chartered Marathon Heritage Hanoi 2024 is the first race in Vietnam to be accompanied by the highest-level central hospital in the healthcare sector, Bach Mai Hospital, as the official medical sponsor. 10 ambulances with full equipment, along with more than 1,000 medical staff from the hospital are arranged along the running routes to handle emergency situations quickly and effectively. With the spirit of " Breakthrough and Reaching Far ", Standard Chartered Marathon Heritage Hanoi 2024 is not only a sports and cultural event, but also a place to spread sustainable values ​​and connect the community. Many meaningful community activities will be organized within the framework of the 2024 season. The "CEO Run" initiative is first implemented exclusively for General Directors of domestic and foreign enterprises. The participating CEOs all committed to supporting charity and all proceeds will be donated by the Organizing Committee to the localities and people affected by the recent Typhoon Yagi. Also at this race, a charity initiative of Standard Chartered Vietnam Bank employees was born and implemented on the spot. That is the activity of collecting old shoes to give back to the poor in remote areas across the country. Volunteers who are bank employees will receive donated shoes at the charity booth, then renew and deliver them to places where shoes are needed. This initiative aims to encourage sharing in the community, encourage reuse and reduce waste, contributing to promoting sustainable development in Vietnam. The program ended successfully with 3,000 pine trees planted at BiDoup Nui Ba National Park ( Lam Dong ).
