Diverse resources
On the morning of October 21, the discussion "Youthful Literature of the South" organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association took place at the Youth Cultural House (Sai Gon Ward). The event is part of the ongoing series of activities "Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days".
The discussion gathered many outstanding young writers who have made their mark in prestigious literary awards. The discussion's content opened up many perspectives on the journey of today's young writers, who are contributing to extending the creative and dynamic source of Southern urban literature.

Writer Trinh Bich Ngan, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, delivered the opening speech at the discussion.
In her opening speech, writer Trinh Bich Ngan, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, affirmed that the young literary creative force of Ho Chi Minh City is constantly being nurtured and rejuvenated. Many new faces have appeared, bringing with them abundant creativity and the spirit of dedication of young writers in the midst of dynamic urban life.
Writer Bui Tieu Quyen believes that thanks to the convergence characteristics of the central southern urban area, young literature in Ho Chi Minh City is always continuously supported by many new resources.
It is this intersection that has created a young writing team that is increasingly large in number, rich in style and diverse in creative personality.

Sharing that spirit, writer Vo Thu Huong acknowledged that the youthful literary strength of Ho Chi Minh City today comes from a large, dynamic creative team, spanning generations 7X, 8X, 9X to young people born in 2000.
"Each generation is like a wave, when combined, it will create a youthful, vibrant source. With the development of social networks, the space for communication between writers and readers is increasingly expanding, helping literature become closer and more widespread," she said.
Extending Southern Emotions
Currently, with the attention and facilitation from all levels and sectors, young literature in Ho Chi Minh City has many opportunities to develop and make breakthroughs. In addition to the Young Author Award initiated by the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association to honor promising writers, the annual Young Author Award of the Vietnam Writers Association has also become a prestigious brand, contributing to recognizing the creative efforts of the next generation.
From 2022, Ho Chi Minh City National University will also organize the annual Young Literature Award with the goal of encouraging "literary startups", creating a space for university students to nurture their passion for writing, arousing their creativity and love for literature.

Dr. Ho Khanh Van (Lecturer of the Faculty of Literature and Linguistics, University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU-HCM) said that the recent "Literary Startup" contest has shown that the need for writing among young people is very large, but they still lack a professional playground.
"Over the past four years, we have seen many talented young people with independent thinking and a fresh approach to literature. This proves that the passion for writing is still burning in today's generation," Dr. Ho Khanh Van emphasized.
Associate Professor Dr. Bui Thanh Truyen, Chairman of the Theory - Criticism Council of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, believes that today's young literature is bringing a new vitality to literary life.
It is this enthusiasm and passion that not only contributes to renewing the literary life but also adds vitality to those who have gone before. There, young writers do not just stop at the desire to assert themselves but are also undertaking a deeper mission of evoking faith and extending the flow of Southern literature.

In the shift of cultural life in the audiovisual and digital age, opinions say that literature is gradually being pushed out by the attraction of new forms of entertainment. However, Dr. Ho Khanh Van believes that such change is an inevitable rule of cultural flow.
"We just need to stay calm and orient ourselves properly, and sustainable values will return. Literature, after periods of being overwhelmed, is still the place to preserve profound spiritual values and will soon find its center in modern cultural life again" - Dr. Ho Khanh Van affirmed.
