Reenacting the ritual of offering offerings to ancestors from the Hung King era

The activity to commemorate the merits of Prince Lang Lieu is organized to honor traditional cultural values, preserve and promote the value of intangible cultural heritage, the worship of Hung Kings;educate the tradition of patriotism, deep gratitude to the Hung Kings and ancestors who have contributed to building and defending the country; show gratitude to ancestors, and at the same time promote traditional values, good ethics, patriotism, the spirit of hard work, creativity, courage and resilience of local people.

Accordingly, the memorial activities include many events taking place over 2 days (May 6 and 7) in Duu Lau ward, Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province. Mr. Phan Quoc Khanh, Chairman of Duu Lau ward People's Committee, said that the memorial program includes a ceremony and a festival.

The ceremony includes an incense offering ceremony to commemorate the merits of Prince Lang Lieu (Hung Chieu Vuong - the 7th Hung King) at 8:00 a.m. on May 7 (April 10 of the lunar calendar) at Duu Lau communal house with about 500 guests.

After the ceremony, there was an activity to set a record for the 100 largest trays of offerings in Vietnam, gathering more than 500 artisans and chef communities from Associations, Branches, and the Vietnam Chefs Association, preparing 100 elaborate trays of offerings with Chung cake and Day cake symbolizing the earth and sky. This activity aims to commemorate the founder of Lang Lieu and promote the typical cuisine of provinces and cities on the symbol of Vietnam's culinary map, while contributing to spreading cultural values and gratitude to ancestors.

The festival includes activities of exchanging and wrapping banh chung and banh giay, gathering locals, artisans and tourists to join in wrapping the cakes, sharing techniques and stories about the origin of banh chung and banh giay. The event not only preserves customs and arouses national pride but also creates a joyful and united atmosphere, contributing to promoting Vietnamese culture to international friends.

In addition, visitors can also enjoy cultural exchange programs performed by local people with singing and dancing performances praising the Party, Uncle Ho, the homeland and the country, especially Xoan singing - an intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO. The event creates a joyful, exciting, and united atmosphere; arouses national pride, and is an opportunity for the community to share, preserve and spread traditional cultural values, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.

The activities to commemorate the merits of Prince Lang Lieu promise to bring many traditional cultural experiences, the worship of Hung Kings and the reenactment of ancestral offering rituals from the Hung Kings' time. This is an opportunity for domestic and foreign tourists to experience traditional culinary culture, better understand the history and unique features of Phu Tho province in particular and the whole country in general. The program is hosted by Duu Lau ward, in coordination with Masan Consumer Goods Joint Stock Company, the Vietnamese Chefs Community (Vietnam Chefs Association) and related agencies and units.
