Financial Express quoted information from the Kurnool Board (India) as saying that the accident occurred between 3am and 3:10am on October 24. The bus, carrying 41 passengers, was traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru when it collided with a motorbike, causing the fuel tank to rupture and catch fire.

The fire quickly engulfed the entire bus, leaving passengers with little time to react. As of the afternoon of October 24, at least 20 people were confirmed dead while nine others were still missing.
According to India Express, 12 passengers were lucky to escape by breaking windows.
Authorities have opened an investigation into the accident.
Prime Minister Modi expressed his grief over the loss of lives in the road accident in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, and expressed his condolences to the families of those affected. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured, the Prime Minister's Office said on Twitter.
The Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will provide Rs 200,000 to the families of each deceased while the injured will get Rs 50,000.
