Honda Civic Type R priced at nearly 3 billion suddenly "discontinued" in Vietnam?

The Honda Civic Type R is a high-performance version of the familiar Civic line in the Vietnamese market. In 2022, this model was first introduced in the domestic market and sold by order.

However, after 3 years, this model has reached its final stage in the Vietnamese market. Recently, Honda Vietnam announced that it has officially stopped distributing the high-performance version of Civic from October 22, 2025.

However, before stopping sales, Honda opened deposits for the last 10 Civic Type R cars in Vietnam. These cars are expected to be delivered to domestic customers from December 2026.

Before being discontinued in Vietnam, the Honda Civic Type R was imported from Japan and had a listed price of up to 2.99 billion VND. Compared to the price at the time of launch, the car has increased by 600 million VND.

Before stopping sales, Honda opened deposits for the last 10 Civic Type Rs.

With the above selling price, Honda Civic Type R of course has very modest sales in the Vietnamese market. In 2023, the car sold 2 units while the corresponding number in 2024 was 11 units. Since the beginning of 2025 until now, Vietnamese people have only bought 2 Honda Civic Type R units.

Over the years, the Honda Civic Type R has been considered one of the icons of the popular sports car village. The highlight of this model lies in the gasoline engine block, which is much more powerful than the regular Honda Civic. The engine of the car is a 4-cylinder, turbocharged, 2.0L VTEC engine, producing a maximum capacity of 315 horsepower and a maximum torque of 420 Nm.

Finally, the Honda Sensing advanced safety driver assistance technology package includes 6 features: collision mitigation braking (CMBS), automatic adaptive headlights (AHB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane departure mitigation (RDM), lane keeping assist (LKAS) and lead vehicle departure notification (LCDN).
