According to Army Recognition, the MH-60R Seahawk multi-role helicopter is a modern variant of the SH-60 Seahawk (Sea Hawk) line, developed by Sikorsky in collaboration with Lockheed Martin since 1993. The Seahawk made its first flight in December 1999 and officially served in the US Navy since 2006.

The MH-60R is a combination of the SH-60B and SH-60F anti-submarine versions, with powerful upgrades in avionics, sensors and weapons, expanding its combat role. In addition to anti-submarine missions, the helicopter can also undertake surface ship attacks, fire support, rescue, logistics transport and maritime reconnaissance.
In terms of design, the MH-60R is 19.75m long, has a wingspan of 16.35m, a height of 5.2m; an empty weight of 6.89 tons and a maximum of 8.05 tons when performing anti-submarine missions. The "Sea Eagle" is equipped with two T700-GE-401C engines, each with a capacity of 1,890 horsepower, reaching a maximum speed of 270 km/h and a range of 450 nautical miles.

The outstanding strength of the MH-60R is its ability to operate stably on the deck of a warship in rough sea conditions, demonstrating high reliability and flexibility in all combat environments. The helicopter can carry 3 Mark-46 torpedoes to attack submarines or 4 AGM-114 Hellfire missiles to destroy surface targets; recently the manufacturer is researching to increase the payload to 8 Hellfire missiles. In addition, the MH-60R can also be equipped with a multi-barreled M240 or M134 machine gun depending on the mission.
In terms of sensors and electronic warfare, the MH-60R is equipped with a synthetic aperture radar system, infrared sensors and the AN/AQS-22 sonar that can be dropped into the water to emit ultrasonic waves to detect enemy submarines. In addition, the helicopter is also capable of dropping sonobuoys, receiving signals and transmitting data via satellite link to the command ship.

Typically deployed from aircraft carriers, frigates and littoral combat ships, the MH-60R Seahawk is an integral part of the US Navy's anti-submarine warfare and fleet protection capabilities.
