On the world market, the world silver price is listed at 47.64 USD/ounce.
According to precious metals analyst James Hyerczyk at FX Empire, if silver breaks through $45.79 an ounce, the previous uptrend could be broken, opening the possibility of a deeper correction towards the support zones of $44.22 an ounce and $41.40 an ounce.
" On the contrary, the nearest resistance level is identified around 49.38 - 49.46 USD/ounce, while the 50.02 - 51.07 USD/ounce area is considered a strong barrier. Currently, the 45.79 USD/ounce area is still an important support for the short-term trend ," he said.
The dollar index has crossed the 100 mark, its highest level since early August, as expectations for another rate cut by the US Federal Reserve (FED) in December have weakened, said James Hyerczyk.
" The stronger US dollar is putting significant pressure on precious metals, as gold falls below $4,000 an ounce and silver is under further pressure ," the expert said.
Safe-haven demand also increased for the dollar, Japanese yen and Swiss franc, amid weakening risk sentiment due to weak manufacturing data, he added.
