Journalism brings law to life
Over the years, the Provincial Bar Association has worked with Dong Khoi Newspaper to carry out the column “Lawyers answer readers” in print and online newspapers, provide legal advice at the editorial office and organize many mobile legal aid trips to remote communes in the province. In particular, lawyer Vo Tan Thanh - former Chairman of Ben Tre Bar Association is one of the members with many contributions and enthusiasm for legal aid activities, providing free legal advice to the people.
Lawyer Vo Tan Thanh shared: The column "Lawyers answer readers" of Dong Khoi Newspaper is very practical in answering questions, solving difficulties and problems of the people. Thereby, propagating the law to readers, helping people access the law, get answers to the law and many related issues in life. To have answers, complete and accurate answers according to the readers' requests, it is the distillation of the Editorial Board, reporters implementing the column and the dedication of the lawyer.
With the diversity and constant development in social life, there are many policies of the Party, policies and laws of the State issued, people cannot understand deeply by themselves. The free legal advice program of Dong Khoi Newspaper is very necessary and useful for people.
“During the trips to provide mobile legal aid to people in remote areas such as Thanh Hai commune, Thanh Phu district, the program members witnessed the images of many people who were eager and waiting to receive legal advice and answers from journalists and lawyers. We would like to thank Dong Khoi Newspaper for initiating and maintaining the free legal advice and mobile legal aid column and program. The newspaper has contributed to bringing the law into people's lives,” said lawyer Vo Tan Thanh.
Contribute to spreading the voice of the homeland
Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union Le Thi Hoang Oanh, despite her busy work, always takes time to write news and articles for Dong Khoi Newspaper under the pen name Minh Ngoc. For her, in the vibrant flow of the digital age, the press still plays an irreplaceable role in guiding public opinion, conveying accurate and timely information and building trust among the people. For her, being able to write articles for Dong Khoi Newspaper is not only an honor, but also a journey full of inspiration and responsibility.

Ms. Oanh said: “Through each article, I realized that the press not only reflects life but also contributes to leading changes from awareness to action. Stories about typical groups and individuals; positive changes in social life; or issues of concern conveyed through the press have touched the hearts of readers, evoked sympathy and spread good things.
Working with Dong Khoi Newspaper helped me practice my observation, analysis and expression skills; especially learning how to look deeper into each issue with a sense of responsibility and objectivity. I clearly feel the role of the writer as a “bridge” - connecting the voice of the grassroots with the readers, conveying the thoughts, aspirations and determination of the people of Ben Tre in the new Dong Khoi journey.
In the coming time, Ms. Oanh hopes to continue to accompany Dong Khoi Newspaper, contributing more voices and beautiful images of the people and land of her homeland, and together kindling the belief, solidarity and aspiration for sustainable development of her home province.
“Collaborating with Dong Khoi Newspaper helps me grow up”
Those are the sincere words of Mr. Le Hoang Trung - resident reporter of Nhan Dan Newspaper in Ben Tre. Mr. Trung's careful personality, gentle speech, and precise language are some of the advantages that make many people like him. His colleagues often call Hoang Trung "Great Journalist".

Le Hoang Trung has been collaborating with Dong Khoi Newspaper since 2017, when he was assigned by the leadership to be a resident reporter for Nhan Dan Newspaper in the province. Returning to Ben Tre, the feelings of a son from the coastal province of Binh Dai are very strange to him. "Returning to work in a land that is both familiar and strange to a child living far away from home like me, there are many indescribable emotions. Among them, Dong Khoi Newspaper is the place where I prioritize collaborating with many news and articles, helping me to mature more in my career," Trung confided.
Reporter Le Hoang Trung is also a person who has the chance to win high prizes at press awards in the province. He said that during his nearly 10 years working in the industry newspaper, he almost did not participate in any press awards. Living permanently in Ben Tre and working at the Provincial Journalists Association, he has the opportunity to participate in more press awards. He is very happy and delighted when his works, which are his "brainchild", are not only welcomed and cared for by readers but also highly appreciated by the Organizing Committee with awards.
memories of the article "Turning salty into sweet"
“Turning salty into sweet”, that is the title of the article by contributor Tran Xien published in Dong Khoi Online Newspaper on March 28, 2013. This is also the most memorable memory among many that Mr. Tran Xien has.
Mr. Tran Xien, reporter of Ba Tri District Radio Station.
The story reflects the coastal commune of Bao Thanh in Ba Tri district, which has 2,936 households and over 12,500 people (in 2013). People here mainly use rainwater and shallow water for daily life, and fresh water is very scarce in the dry season. After that, Bao Thanh commune received investment from the National Target Program for Climate Change Adaptation to build a water treatment module for daily life in conditions where there is no fresh water (in the coastal area of Ben Tre province). The project was built at Bao Thanh Primary School with a total investment of nearly 2 billion VND, sponsored by the Danish Government .
Mr. Tran Xien wrote: "The water treatment module has an operating capacity of supplying 15m3 of water per day and night; treating saline water into fresh water that meets clean water standards for daily use."
Reading Tran Xien’s article, many people laughed and expressed their “disbelief” because there was no such thing as “salt water turning into fresh water”. He just smiled to himself and consoled himself. Later, when the project was completed and put into use, people believed that “turning salt into sweet water” was real.
During 29 years working at Ba Tri District Radio Station (now Ba Tri District Culture, Sports and Broadcasting Center), Mr. Tran Xien has always been attached to and has many news and articles collaborating with Dong Khoi Newspaper.
16 years with Dong Khoi Newspaper
In 2009, Le Thi Thanh Huong (from An Duc commune, Ba Tri district) graduated from College of Radio and Television II (Ho Chi Minh City), majoring in Journalism. When Binh Dai District Radio Station needed reporters, Huong was hired and has been working there ever since.

After 16 years working at Binh Dai Radio Station, now the District Culture, Sports and Broadcasting Center, Huong has also collaborated with Dong Khoi Newspaper for the same number of years. At first, she collaborated on short news, then on short news and articles for print and online newspapers. In the context of the limited number of reporters in the editorial office and the many events taking place in different localities in the province, the news, articles and photos sent to the editorial office by Huong and other collaborators for timely publication are very valuable.
Le Thi Thanh Huong shared: “During my time working with Dong Khoi Newspaper, I received enthusiastic support from the reporters and editors of the newspaper, helping me gain more and more experience in writing news and articles. Thanks to that, I later had more concise and quality press products”. Le Thi Thanh Huong is also a person with many good works and is “lucky” to win high prizes in provincial competitions such as: Xuan Newspaper (5 consecutive years from 2020 to 2024), Suong Nguyet Anh, New Countryside, Good People, Good Deeds, etc.
Desire to continue to stick around and contribute
Graduated from the College of Radio and Television II (Ho Chi Minh City), majoring in Journalism in 2013, Nguyen Minh Mung was recruited to work at the Radio Station of Giong Trom District. 6 years later, he transferred to the Radio Station of Thanh Phu District (now the District Culture, Sports - Radio and Tourism Center). Returning to his hometown (My An Commune, Thanh Phu District), Minh Mung has more opportunities to develop his abilities and strengths.

With his youth, enthusiasm and passion for journalism, Nguyen Minh Mung often works at the grassroots level. He also regularly collaborates with Dong Khoi Newspaper with many news and articles. Especially during the time when the Covid-19 epidemic broke out strongly, the news and articles of him and his colleagues recorded the silent fight of those working in epidemic prevention, typical collective and individual examples, contributing to encouraging the spirit of the anti-epidemic force, creating trust among the people and creating positive effects, spreading widely in the community.
“I am sure that many contributors have the same thoughts as me, appreciating the strong innovations of Dong Khoi Newspaper in recent times, especially the online newspaper. Dong Khoi Online Newspaper now has a new look, multi-platform content with flexible presentation, close to people's lives... all of which have created a newspaper that both preserves its identity and keeps up with development trends. As a contributor to Dong Khoi Newspaper, I always feel the sincere companionship and support from the Editorial Board, reporters and editors of the newspaper. This is the motivation for me to continue to stick with and contribute,” Nguyen Minh Mung shared.
Both a technician and a reporter
That is the case of Mr. Viet Cuong, a reporter at Cho Lach District Radio Station, now the District Culture, Sports and Broadcasting Center. In 2010, after graduating from Radio and Television High School 2 (Ho Chi Minh City), Nguyen Viet Cuong was hired as a technician at Cho Lach District Radio Station. While performing the task of editing the audio of daily radio programs, he watched and listened to the station's news content. Over time, Viet Cuong fell in love with the job of writing news and articles and he was determined to learn to become a real reporter.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Cuong, reporter of Cho Lach District Radio Station.
Viet Cuong was given the opportunity by the agency's leaders to participate in news writing training courses organized by the province. With his studious nature and the enthusiastic guidance of his colleagues, he has made a lot of progress. Starting with writing simple news stories, he gradually gained more experience to write more in-depth news stories. Over time, he has been able to write more difficult genres such as quick notes, reflection articles, and reports. Viet Cuong has the advantage of being both a technician and a reporter, so he can edit sound, create images, and complete radio or television works according to his own ideas.
Viet Cuong shared: “I still remember how happy and excited I felt when the news I wrote was used and published in Dong Khoi Newspaper for the first time. Although it was just a small piece of news in a corner of the newspaper page, it was a great source of encouragement for someone who was just starting out in the profession. After that, I became more confident, wrote more news and articles, and collaborated with press agencies in the province.
As a contributor and regular reader of Dong Khoi Newspaper, I have noticed that over the past time, the newspaper has shown flexibility, creativity, and constant innovation to adapt to the trend of digital media and modern journalism, promptly meeting the increasing needs of readers.
The collaborators of Dong Khoi Newspaper are of different ages, occupations, living conditions… always have warm and close feelings for the staff, reporters, and editorial staff of Dong Khoi Newspaper like a big family. All have the same wish that Dong Khoi Newspaper will develop, grow stronger and continue the tradition of journalism of generations of veteran journalists of the province. |
