Việt NamViệt Nam02/08/2024

At around 1:15 p.m. on July 31, a fishing boat with registration number AG.0910.TS was traveling on Ngang canal from Truong Xuan commune (Thap Muoi district, Dong Thap province) to Vinh Buu commune (Tan Hung district, Long An province). When passing the iron bridge in front of Vinh Buu commune People's Committee, it got stuck, damaging the bridge.

Accident scene

This waterway accident caused the middle span of the Ngang Canal bridge across the Commune People's Committee (45 m long, 2 m wide, 0.5 ton load capacity) to tilt, and the concrete bridge pillars to become crooked. The back of the boat got stuck under the iron grate of the middle span of the bridge, unable to move. Fortunately, the accident did not cause any human casualties. The accident scene was kept intact until noon on August 1, waiting for Tan Hung District Police to verify and clarify the incident.

The boat has a capacity of 36 tons.

Local authorities have installed barriers, warning signs and redirected road traffic to Provincial Road 837B for people's convenience; waterway traffic has also been directed to switch to other canals.

It is known that the fishing boat that caused the accident had a capacity of 36 tons, driven by Mr. Nguyen Van Tuong, born in 1970, residing in My Qui commune, Thap Muoi district, Dong Thap province./.
