Stick to school, stick to class in the second homeland

Born and raised in a poor rural area (Hamlet 5, Quang Tho Commune, Vu Quang District, Ha Tinh Province), Tran Thi Tho soon realized the value of knowledge and aspired to become a teacher. But that dream was not easy to realize when her family's circumstances were still difficult and learning conditions at that time were limited.

In 1998, when she was only 15 years old, Tho asked her parents' permission to leave her hometown and follow her siblings to the South to continue her studies. In a foreign land - Ca Mau , lacking the loving arms of her parents, but the affection, care and help of her siblings and friends were the motivation for the female student to strive. During those years, she studied to complete her high school program, while studying pedagogy at Ca Mau Pedagogical High School. Although it was difficult, she never once thought of giving up. It was her love for the teaching profession that gave her the motivation to overcome difficulties and persevere in pursuing the path she had chosen.

In 2003, Ms. Tho graduated and became a primary school teacher. She thought that she could easily stand on the podium by applying the knowledge she had learned, but the reality was not like that. When she started teaching at Primary School 1 in Cai Doi Vam town, Phu Tan district, she faced many difficulties, from lesson preparation, teaching, to student management. At the primary level, teachers are not only the ones who impart knowledge, but also the second fathers and mothers of the students. Those difficulties gradually passed, and during her years working at the school, she always tried her best, completed her tasks well, participated and achieved the title of excellent teacher at the district level, and beautiful handwriting teacher at the provincial level.

In 2008, Ms. Tho followed her husband and moved to teach at U Minh 3 Farm Primary School, Tran Van Thoi District. At that time, the school's conditions were still poor, the roads were difficult to travel, muddy when it rained, dusty when it was sunny, there were days when she had to walk 5 kilometers to get to class. Overcoming those challenges, she was attached to the school and the class.

Ms. Tran Thi Tho is an exemplary teacher, always devoted to her students.

But for her, that was not the most difficult thing at first, but what she struggled with was finding a way to teach students in a place where accessto education was limited. Most students in remote areas were children of farmers, their parents were busy making a living, and had little time to tutor their children; many children came to class with a shy, timid mentality when reading...

Ms. Tho recalls that one time, a student in her homeroom class cried when preparing to start reading class because he could not pronounce some words correctly. So Ms. Tho patiently trained him to pronounce clearly and roundly, encouraging him little by little. Then day by day, not only did he read more correctly, but he also became more confident, often volunteering to read in front of the class. Those moments made her clearly feel that being a primary school teacher is not simply teaching words, but also teaching confidence, teaching love, teaching children to grow up step by step.

Despite the many difficulties, it is the love for her students that helps Ms. Tho stand firm in the face of challenges. She believes that: "Primary school children are like blank sheets of paper. If we do not wholeheartedly guide them, they will face difficulties in the future. Being a teacher is not only about imparting knowledge but also about sowing seeds and patiently waiting for each seedling to grow."

Good example of teacher

With her dedication, she constantly researches and innovates teaching methods, helping students absorb lessons more easily. She incorporates games and uses visual pictures to create excitement for students. Ms. Tho's lessons are no longer dry theories but are lively with familiar stories and gentle moral lessons, helping students not only study well but also be polite and caring towards friends, teachers and everyone.

It is with that perseverance and dedication that she has helped many generations of students learn to read, write, love, and above all, appreciate letters - something that seems simple but is the key to opening up the future. That is why she is always loved by students and trusted by parents.
