On the afternoon of May 26, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Minh Tri chaired a meeting with the working delegation of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 on the implementation of Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg of the Prime Minister on launching a peak campaign to fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.
According to the report of the Provincial Steering Committee 389, in the first 5 months of 2025, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in Binh Duong province continued to develop complicatedly, with many sophisticated and unpredictable methods and tricks.
Although not bordering a national border, with its convenient traffic location, dense warehouse system and large number of enterprises, Binh Duong has become an ideal transit area for goods, but also a potential hot spot for smuggling and poor quality goods.
In 5 months, the authorities in Binh Duong inspected nearly 2,000 cases, handled 465 violations, and collected over 18 billion VND for the budget. The violations were mainly concentrated in large cities such as Thuan An, Di An and Thu Dau Mot, mainly related to smuggling, trade fraud, and food safety violations.
Head of the working delegation, Mr. Tran Duc Dong, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389, requested that sectors directly assess, fight against, and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights within their scope of responsibility.
Representatives of central sectors also received and responded to recommendations within their authority and updated new directives of ministries and sectors on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Bui Minh Tri said that in the coming time, Binh Duong will continue to implement a peak inspection according to the latest instructions of the Prime Minister, while strengthening inter-sectoral coordination, raising public awareness and strictly handling organizations and individuals who violate the law. Binh Duong considers this a key task to protect consumers, stabilize the market and contribute to local economic development.
