In recent years, along with promoting the application of science and technology, this locality has gradually transformed strongly into high-tech agriculture , focusing on digital transformation in the entire production, processing and consumption chain.

The effectiveness of the digital transformation process is spreading widely to every village, hamlet, and farm. Hundreds of farming households and cooperatives have been supported with digital skills training, application of production management technology, and online sales, contributing to fundamentally changing traditional production methods.

From high-tech agriculture to digital agriculture

Always a solid pillar of the economy , Lam Dong agriculture has overcome the limits of traditional production to become a model of smart, safe and effective agriculture.

The foundation for the process of reaching out to the international market is well-built, with 954 export growing area codes and 339 modern packaging facilities, including vegetable seed production areas for export to the European market - one of the most demanding markets in the world .

The three main products, coffee (327,629 hectares), durian (42,532 hectares) and dragon fruit (25,979.7 hectares), have not only expanded in scale but also improved in quality, affirming the position of Lam Dong agricultural products on the global export map. The brand "Da Lat - Miraculous crystallization from the good land" currently has more than 700 products protected by intellectual property and 914 products meeting OCOP standards, demonstrating the strength of intelligence, technology and local identity.

With a focus on deep processing, Lam Dong is forming a system of modern agricultural factories, typically the Hikari Da Lat Agricultural Processing Factory, creating a closed value chain from production to export. Thanks to that, Lam Dong agriculture not only ensures food security, but also shapes Vietnam's new position on the global agricultural map.

Not only strong in crops, Lam Dong's aquaculture industry is also effectively utilizing the OCOP program to increase product value and expand consumption markets.

According to the provincial Department of Rural Development, OCOP products are currently available at many supermarkets, specialty stores and fairs inside and outside the province. With an average output of over 230,000 tons/year, the Southeast region of the province has developed a series of typical products such as fish sauce, fermented fish sauce, dried sturgeon, buttered squid with garlic, Thai-sauced anchovies, tamarind-braised beef fish, etc.

Thanks to the OCOP program, the average income of the subjects increases by 15-20% per year, while creating jobs for thousands of rural workers. Dried and frozen seafood products are supported with traceability, QR codes, and promotion on e-commerce platforms - an important step in digital transformation of the consumption stage, helping to directly connect producers and consumers.

The Department also proposed to build a value-added chain for processed seafood in the 2026-2030 period, aiming to form a separate digital distribution channel for OCOP seafood products, linked with tourism, gifts and e-commerce - a direction in line with the current trend of digital agricultural economy.

Accelerating digital transformation - unleashing new momentum for sustainable agriculture

Despite many positive results, the digital transformation of agriculture in Lam Dong still faces challenges: high investment costs, lack of technical human resources, and limited digital skills. However, the provincial government is proactively implementing support programs for businesses, cooperatives, and farming households, focusing on skills training, consulting on production process transformation, and promoting e-commerce.

In the coming period, Lam Dong will promote online agricultural extension, form an electronic agricultural extension system and a centralized database to serve the management, forecasting and operation of smart agriculture. At the same time, the province aims to develop organic - ecological - high-tech agriculture, linking digital transformation with resource protection and climate change adaptation.

Digital transformation is helping Lam Dong agricultural products not only grow in their homeland but also reach far in the global supply chain. And in that journey, technology is the key to opening the door to sustainable development for Vietnamese agriculture in the new era.

Da Lat – the smart agricultural center of the highlands

As the "heart of high-tech agriculture" of Lam Dong, Da Lat is becoming a model for applying digital transformation in agricultural production. From high-tech strawberry growing models, sweet peppers on substrates, imported gladiolus to smart agricultural models... All aim to improve production efficiency, reduce costs and create high-quality agricultural products.

According to statistics in 2024, Da Lat will have 6,208 hectares of agricultural land using advanced water-saving irrigation systems and automatic sensors. The process of sowing and growing vegetables and flowers is mechanized, labor productivity increases 5-7 times compared to manual labor.

Technologies such as automatic irrigation, greenhouses, net houses, and environmental sensors help farmers save water, reduce pesticides, and increase productivity. In particular, many large-scale hydroponic and substrate models have proven to be highly effective, creating a sustainable value chain.

Along with production, the OCOP program (One Commune One Product) is becoming a fulcrum for Da Lat to affirm its agricultural brand. The city currently has 82 products from 32 entities certified by OCOP, including 2 5-star products, 16 4-star products, and the rest 3-star products. Specialties such as artichokes, coffee, strawberries, raspberries, wind-dried persimmons, cordyceps... are upgraded thanks to electronic processing and traceability technology.
