Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association delivered the opening speech.
Following the above success is the "Program to support creative activities of literary, artistic and journalistic works and projects at the Central level and local Literature and Arts Associations; support high-quality journalistic works at local Journalists Associations for the period 2021-2025" according to Decision 558 of the Prime Minister.
Most opinions say that the programs demonstrate the deep leadership and direction of the Party and Government towards the cause of press innovation in the country in general and the professional press activities of all levels of the Vietnam Journalists Association in particular...
In addition, the difficulties and shortcomings in the implementation of the program were also analyzed by the Journalists Association at all levels, experiences were exchanged, and many solutions were proposed to contribute to better implementation of the support program in the coming years.
Mr. Phan Toan Thang, Chief of Office of the Vietnam Journalists Association, said that implementing Decision No. 558 of the Prime Minister, journalists have had more opportunities to penetrate reality and write articles.
Many supported press works have won high prizes in local press awards and press awards of ministries and branches, and even higher, the annual National Press Award. Journalists who are supported financially do not follow the taste, the trivial and low commercialization.
Many Association branches received certificates of merit from the Vietnam Journalists Association.
Works receiving conditional funding will delve deeper into revolutionary themes, resistance, national history and areas of innovation, promoting industrialization and modernization of the country, reflecting on life, advanced models and new factors in all regions of the country, especially remote, border and island areas.
The support for the creation of high-quality journalistic works has created consensus and competition among the press, focusing on the creation of journalistic works in line with the propaganda orientation of the Party, State and Government; creating journalistic works with combative and educational qualities, with political ideology, contributing to social stability, serving the revolutionary cause of the Party and the people, thereby more clearly affirming the role, social responsibility and civic duty of journalists.
Many activities support high quality journalism
Many groups achieved excellent results in the emulation movement of the Association.
According to the report of the Drafting Committee of the Project to Support High-Quality Journalism Phase 2, the Proposed Project 2021-2025, membership data is only one of the important factors for the Drafting Committee to propose to state management agencies to consider providing support funding.
If we consider the number of members, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City both have around 1,000 members, which will account for the majority of the support budget and could be nearly 10 times higher than the Provincial Journalists Association, which has just over 100 members.
In the coming time, the Drafting Committee of the High-Quality Journalism Support Program for the 2026-2030 period will study and propose to develop additional criteria for funding allocation to ensure more scientific and fair results; explain and provide detailed explanations to state management agencies as a basis for submitting to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision on supporting high-quality journalism in the coming period.
At the Conference, the Vietnam Journalists Association announced the Decision and awarded Certificates of Merit from the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association to 29 Association groups and 51 individuals with outstanding achievements in professional work and Association building in 2023.
