The Bangkok City Council delegation was led by Mr. Viput Srivaurai, Chairman of the Bangkok City Council; also attending was Mr. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Vietnam.
Welcoming the Bangkok delegation, Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council Phung Thi Hong Ha expressed her joy at welcoming the delegation in Hanoi and congratulated Mr. Viput Srivaurai on his recent election as Chairman of the Bangkok City Council. She emphasized that the visit of the Bangkok delegation this time has a positive meaning in expanding the cooperative relationship between the two localities, especially in the context that Vietnam and Thailand have upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Reviewing the outstanding cooperation results between Vietnam and Thailand over the past 50 years, Comrade Phung Thi Hong Ha affirmed that this is an important foundation to connect localities of the two countries, especially between the two capitals of Hanoi and Bangkok, in inheriting and promoting the tradition of development cooperation.
Ms. Phung Thi Hong Ha said that Hanoi always gives high priority to expanding friendly relations and cooperation with the capitals of ASEAN countries, including Bangkok. The two capitals officially established friendly cooperation relations in 2001, and in 2004, they continued to sign a cooperation agreement between the Hanoi People's Committee and the Bangkok City government, creating a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Strengthening cooperation between Hanoi City People's Council and Bangkok City Council After more than two decades, Hanoi and Bangkok have developed as dynamic and modern capitals of Southeast Asia, sharing many similarities in strategic location, urbanization speed and economic -cultural center role. These similarities create favorable conditions for the two sides to share experiences and solutions in urban management and development, while strengthening cooperation in areas of strength.
Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council Phung Thi Hong Ha expressed her hope that the two cities will continue to expand exchanges in areas such as urban management, tourism, education , culture, environment and business connections, thereby contributing to promoting the Vietnam - Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
According to Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council Phung Thi Hong Ha, the Hanoi People's Council wishes to continue to foster the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two localities, including proposing to consider expanding a new cooperation agreement in 2026 in areas of common strengths of the two localities such as: Economy - trade, tourism, urban management as well as other issues of mutual concern, in order to bring practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

Expressing her belief that the cooperation between the two agencies will continue to develop substantially, effectively and sustainably, Chairwoman of the City People's Council Phung Thi Hong Ha also outlined a number of cooperation orientations in the coming time, affirming that Hanoi welcomes and creates the most favorable conditions for enterprises and corporations with strengths in capital and technology from Thailand - including Bangkok - to make new investments and expand their business.
Especially in new areas such as digital transformation, green growth, renewable energy, circular economy, environmental protection, underground space, etc.; as well as in the field of urban pollution treatment, solid waste management, air quality improvement and building sustainable smart cities.

Appreciating the warm welcome and thoughtful care of Hanoi Capital, Chairman of Bangkok City Council Viput Srivaurai hopes that the two sides will continue long-term and effective cooperation, and hopes to be able to welcome a delegation of Hanoi City People's Council to visit and work in Bangkok Capital in the near future.
Chairman of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council Viput Srivaurai affirmed that this working trip to Hanoi is an opportunity for the two sides to make new strides in cooperation, thereby making practical contributions to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand-Vietnam diplomatic relations.
