Strengthen friendship, tighten solidarity

The friendship exchange program "Happy Traditional New Year to some Asian countries" is an annual activity organized by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations in coordination with the Embassies of Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Taking place on April 26, the event is one of the key diplomatic activities of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations in 2025, with the aim of continuing to enhance common understanding, further tightening the friendship and solidarity between the Vietnamese people, as well as the people of the capital Hanoi with the people of Asian countries and the world.

Through rituals and performances imbued with the traditional cultural colors of each country, diplomatic staff and international students living, studying and working far from home can enjoy the atmosphere of the traditional New Year right in Vietnam.

The program also aims to promote people-to-people diplomacy activities, contributing to the successful implementation of the goals and aspirations of building Hanoi as a "Cultured - Civilized - Modern" capital; worthy of the title "Heroic Capital", "City for Peace", "Creative City"; bringing the capital's people-to-people diplomacy to new heights in the new era.

Speaking at the program, Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Ngoc Ky said that the participation of many international friends is a testament to the solidarity and friendship between countries, as well as between peoples of the world.

Delighted with the development of the relationship between Vietnam and Asian countries, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ky affirmed that the Vietnamese people in general and Hanoi in particular always respect and appreciate the good feelings, support and valuable help from international friends for the process of building, developing and international integration of the country.

Responding to the press, Head of the Diplomatic Corps in Vietnam, Palestinian Ambassador Saadi Salama expressed his joy at participating in a meaningful cultural event about the New Year customs of some Asian countries.

The Ambassador also appreciated the efforts of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations in its determination to become a bridge of friendship contributing to promoting the relationship between Vietnam and other countries.

In the warm and friendly atmosphere of international exchange, delegates participated in a number of traditional ceremonies such as: bathing the Buddha statue; splashing water for good luck, wrist-tying ceremony; Holi festival. Along with that were special art performances by Vietnamese artists, embassy staff and international students.
