Strengthening identification and combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods

On the afternoon of April 21, the National Steering Committee 389 held an online conference to review the work of the first quarter of 2025 and deploy tasks for the coming time. Comrade Bui Thanh Son, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee 389 chaired the conference. Attending and chairing at the provincial bridge point were Comrade Quach Tat Liem, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee 389; representatives of the Steering Committee's member sectors.

In the first quarter of 2025, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods remained complicated on many routes and areas with increasingly sophisticated methods and tricks, putting great pressure on the inspection and control work of functional forces.

Nationwide, 30,651 violations were detected and handled, collecting more than VND 4,616 billion for the state budget (an increase of nearly 60% over the same period); 1,328 criminal cases were prosecuted with 2,046 subjects. Border routes, seaports, airports, especially the e-commerce environment, continue to see many new fraud methods emerging, difficult to detect and handle.

In Hoa Binh , in the first quarter, the authorities inspected 166 cases, handled 87 cases, with a total administrative fine of over 624 million VND. Of which, the Market Management force handled 58 cases; the Provincial Police prosecuted 1 tax evasion case related to e-commerce activities, collecting over 1.8 billion VND for the budget. Particularly during the peak period before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025, the whole province detected and handled 137 violations, prosecuted 2 cases with 3 defendants.

In his directive speech, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized the need to strengthen the identification and fight against new smuggling and trade fraud methods and tricks; step up propaganda, promote the role of people and businesses; strictly handle violations and acts of abetting and covering up. At the same time, promptly commend and reward outstanding collectives and individuals in the work of preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

At the conference, the National Steering Committee 389 announced the decision to reward 126 collectives and 223 individuals with outstanding achievements in the work of preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in 2024, of which Hoa Binh province has 2 collectives and 3 individuals.
