Continue to complete planning and invest in public passenger transport system by bus

On the afternoon of May 29, concluding the working session with the Department of Construction regarding the planning, investment and operation of the public passenger transport system by bus, Head of the Urban Committee of the City People's Council Le Tung Lam highly appreciated the coordinated efforts of the construction industry in the field of transportation, which achieved many results; requested the Department of Construction to absorb the opinions of the Urban Committee and the Committees of the People's Council to complete the report.

It focuses on clarifying the shortcomings, limitations and causes as well as carefully reviewing and correctly evaluating to propose effective solutions to adjust and improve the planning, investment and operation of the public passenger transport system by bus. Thereby solving issues of concern to voters related to urban development, promptly and effectively solving problems of traffic congestion and the rate of public transport use in the city.

According to the report of the Department of Construction, the city has a total of 14 bus routes in operation. Specifically, 5 subsidized routes with 34 buses, operating from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily, with a frequency of 15-30 minutes/trip; 6 non-subsidized bus routes with 51 buses, with a frequency of 15-30 minutes/trip, connecting areas in the city. In addition, there are 3 adjacent bus routes connecting Da Nang with neighboring localities with 58 buses, operating with a frequency of 15-30 minutes/trip.

The total number of vehicles operating on the current bus network is 143 buses, operating an average of 13-14 hours per day, ensuring high coverage, serving the travel needs of people in the city and inter-provincial areas. The bus network has covered all main routes, from the inner city to the suburbs, contributing to reducing traffic congestion and developing sustainable public transport.

Regarding infrastructure, the city has a system of bus stops serving public passenger transport including: 765 stops with 186 waiting rooms; 765 sign posts and 765 painted lines. The total passenger transport volume in the first 4 months of 2025 was 640,190, passengers were mainly students and the elderly in the city.
