Accelerating digital transformation in trade promotion

According to the Dong Nai Statistics Office, in 2024, Dong Nai's total retail sales of goods and service revenue reached VND298,556 billion, an increase of more than 13% over the previous year. The province's export turnover reached USD23.95 billion, an increase of nearly 11%... The above results are partly due to the province's great attention to trade promotion.

Focus on digital transformation

Applying modern technology and innovative digital transformation is considered one of the solutions to create breakthroughs in the socio-economic development of Dong Nai, as well as the whole country. Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee has requested departments, branches and localities to have projects and plans in digital transformation for each field.

Pursuant to Decision No. 1968/QD-TTg dated November 22, 2021 of the Prime Minister on approving the Project on Promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion activities for the period 2022-2030; Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 8425/BCT-XTTM dated December 28, 2021 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on developing a plan to implement the Project on Promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion activities for the period 2022-2030, the Provincial People's Committee issued the Plan on Promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion activities for the period 2021-2030 in Dong Nai province in 2022 and the Framework Plan for the period 2022-2025 at the end of March 2022.

In the first quarter of 2025, the Provincial Trade Promotion Center supported the organization of joint booths for 15 Dong Nai enterprises to participate in the Trade Union Tet Market. Organized joint booths for enterprises in the province to participate in fairs: Typical Vietnamese Export Goods in 2025, Specialized in Coffee and OCOP Products...

The above plan of the province aims to support trade promotion organizations and enterprises in the province to improve awareness and capacity in applying information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion activities. Thereby, promoting trade development with domestic and foreign organizations and enterprises, boosting the economic and trade development of the province.

Departments, branches, units and enterprises in the province closely coordinate to effectively implement assigned tasks. The application of information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion activities is implemented synchronously, practically and effectively. The goal is for enterprises and cooperatives to expand product consumption markets and stabilize production.

According to Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Pham Van Cuong, in 2025, the industry and trade sector has implemented breakthrough tasks to develop modern trade and services in the province. In particular, the province will organize trade promotion delegations in other countries, apply information technology to implement the e-commerce development plan, and connect the province's e-commerce platform (ecdn.vn) to become a branch of the platform (hangviet.vn).

In meetings on socio-economic development, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh repeatedly emphasized that digital transformation is an inevitable trend and a top priority for Vietnam to develop rapidly and sustainably. The purpose is to form a digital economy, digital society, and digital citizens.

Therefore, Dong Nai as well as other provinces and cities have built a digital transformation plan for each industry and field. In particular, digital transformation in the field of trade promotion is very important; because it helps businesses and cooperatives promote their products to domestic and foreign consumers, and find more customers to consume their products.

Contribute to economic growth

Since 2020, the global economy has faced many difficulties such as: the Covid-19 pandemic causing the global supply chain to break down, the world economy falling into recession, trade tensions between many countries in the world, conflicts in some countries... The above issues have greatly affected the economic development of the world, many countries have negative or very low growth. However, Vietnam has risen and become a world example of stability, development and high economic growth.

Despite facing many difficulties, Dong Nai’s economic growth has always been higher than the national average. Departments, sectors, localities and enterprises in the province are very interested in applying modern science and technology, digital transformation and green transformation. This helps increase productivity, product quality, reduce production costs and enhance competitiveness.

Director of Trong Duc Cocoa Company Limited (Dinh Quan District) Dang Tuong Khanh said that the company focuses on applying advanced technology in production and business to reduce costs and improve efficiency. The company participates in digital transformation to promote trade and advertise its products to domestic and foreign consumers. Thereby, the company's cocoa products are known more by domestic and foreign consumers and customers, and they place orders in large quantities, so the company's output is very favorable. Currently, the company is expanding its raw material and production areas to meet large orders from domestic and foreign partners.

Mr. Nguyen Van Linh, Deputy Director in charge of the Provincial Trade Promotion Center, said that in the past 3 years, the center has coordinated with departments, branches, localities, associations and unions to organize training conferences on the application of information technology and digital transformation in trade promotion activities for officials, civil servants and public employees.

Every year, Dong Nai pays great attention to trade promotion in the domestic market and many other countries. According to Mr. Nguyen Van Linh, Deputy Director in charge of the Provincial Trade Promotion Center, in 2024, the center supported 263 enterprises and cooperatives to participate in 11 conference, seminar, trade connection programs, integrating promotion of Dong Nai's brand and tourism image in provinces and cities across the country. In particular, the Halal market - a new export market with great potential. After the conference, distributors and manufacturers exchanged, connected, and shared solutions and experiences in production, business activities, and expanding consumer markets.

In addition, in 2024, the Provincial Trade Promotion Center will also organize 4 trade connection sessions between 70 cooperative groups, 30 cooperatives and 100 traditional market traders in districts and cities with the Giau Day agricultural and food wholesale market (Thong Nhat district). The purpose is to create connections to form a supply chain from production to consumption. At the same time, the center organized 19 enterprises with OCOP products (One Commune One Product Program) to participate in displaying and selling products at booths during the Tet Sum Vay Festival organized by the Provincial Labor Federation...
