According to the issued construction orders and urgent projects, the whole province has 90 damaged locations causing traffic safety problems on national highways and provincial roads that need to be repaired, of which 20 locations are on national highways and 70 locations are on provincial roads.
The disaster recovery project at Km40+350 of Provincial Road 250 in Huu Kien Commune, Chi Lang District is the largest in scale among the locations that need to be repaired. According to the design, the project will repair the road surface of about 500 m long and build a new road of 479 m long, with the project completion time from February 2025 to June 2025. The unit assigned to undertake the construction and installation is Quang Thanh Trading and Construction Company Limited, which has focused on machinery and equipment to organize production at the site since February 10, 2025. Up to now, the contractor has completed the entire gravel roadbed on the route according to the design.
Mr. Vu Duc Dung, chief construction supervisor of Cua Dong Investment and Development Consulting Joint Stock Company, said: The amount of work the contractor has done by the end of April 2025 has reached 45% of the contract value. Currently, the supervisor is asking the contractor to propose a mixing station and prepare a construction outline for cement concrete pavement to serve the transition phase of construction. The goal is to complete the project on schedule as committed to put the project into operation in June 2025.
Construction work at other landslide locations was also carried out urgently and effectively by construction units.
Mr. Vi Van Dan, Director of Lang Son Traffic Construction and Management Joint Stock Company, said: The unit was assigned to participate in the construction of stone gabion revetments to restore damage to negative and positive slopes at 19 locations. Due to the large number of locations that need to be repaired and the complicated construction conditions, the unit has made a detailed construction plan, mobilized human resources and equipment to urgently organize production at the construction site. Accordingly, the unit mobilized 12 trucks, 6 excavators, 4 rollers, 70 workers to work at the construction site, and coordinated with local authorities and investors to handle difficulties and problems, and agreed on dumping locations and fills for the project.
Thanks to reasonable construction solutions, by the end of April 2025, all 18/19 damaged locations undertaken by the unit had completed 100% of the volume according to the approved design, 1 project completed 98% of the volume and strived to complete all projects before May 15, 2025. Currently, the unit is focusing on completing the installation of markers, signs and cleaning the project. Along with that, the unit is also focusing on completing the completion documents to submit to the competent authority for approval to make payment disbursement.
Similarly, the construction to repair 5 severely damaged locations on National Highway 31, 3 locations on Provincial Road 234 and Provincial Road 245 undertaken by Construction Development and Trade Joint Stock Company No. 909 is also being accelerated.
Mr. Ngo Minh Hieu, Deputy Director of the company said: Immediately after being assigned by the Department of Construction to construct stone cage embankments at landslide locations to restore roadbed foundations on national highways and provincial roads, the unit promptly deployed work at the site such as placing warning signs at the construction site, organizing the gathering of sufficient machinery, equipment, materials, assigning people in charge of traffic flow and implementing production at the site according to the signed contract. Up to now, after more than 5 months of organizing and implementing construction, all positions undertaken by the unit have completed 100% of the volume according to the approved design and 100% of the works have been inspected and accepted by the investor and put into use.
According to the report of the Department of Construction, by the end of April 2025, of the 90 damaged locations that needed to be restored, contractors had completed 88/90 locations and put them into operation to ensure quality.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Director of the Traffic Infrastructure Construction and Maintenance Management Board (Department of Construction) said: By the end of April 2025, construction units had deployed construction and installation at locations that met the requirements of progress and quality according to the required construction orders. Currently, the board is requesting construction units to coordinate with consulting units to complete the project completion dossier according to regulations. Particularly for the project to overcome the consequences of natural disasters at Km40+350 of Provincial Road 250 in Huu Kien commune, the board is focusing on directing to speed up the construction and installation progress so that the project can be completed in June 2025.
Storm No. 3 caused great damage to the transport infrastructure system in the province, but with the drastic participation in overcoming the consequences of the Department of Construction and other units, landslides and damaged areas were promptly and effectively repaired. Thereby, it contributed to ensuring traffic safety on national highways and provincial roads, promoting smooth trading activities on the routes.
