On the eve of the spring of At Ty 2025, the Naval Region 5 Command together with the southern provinces and cities, businesses and press agencies (referred to as the working group) brought "spring" from the mainland to the islands of Tho Chu, Hon Khoai, Hon Chuoi, Nam Du, and Hon Doc.
Having visited many seas and islands in the Truong Sa archipelago and the Southwest sea of the Fatherland, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong (former deputy general director of Agribank ) said that on each trip, she brought a typical gift from Hanoi, with the desire to send affection from the mainland to the soldiers and hope that the officers and soldiers will have a joyful and warm spring.
"This year, Nhat Tan peach garden was heavily affected by Typhoon Yagi , but I still tried to choose the most beautiful peach branches to bring to the island. We are very happy that this Tet, the soldiers at the radar station can see the peach blossoms blooming in time for the New Year," Ms. Phuong shared.

Having celebrated Tet as a soldier for 19 years, Captain Bui Ngoc Dinh, political commissar of radar station 595 (Battalion 551, Navy Region 5), said this was the first time he celebrated Tet on Hon Khoai Island.
"The island has no residents, so when the delegation visited, the officers and soldiers were very happy and excited, many of them could not sleep.
I am very grateful for the delegation's affection in visiting, wishing the New Year, and giving gifts to the unit. In particular, the delegation brought peach blossoms from the mainland to give to the officers and soldiers. As a person from the North, when I saw the peach blossoms, I was very happy and moved, as if I was celebrating Tet at home" - Captain Dinh said with a smile.
According to Captain Dinh, officers and soldiers of Radar Station 595 have wrapped Chung cakes, Tet cakes, fruit trays, apricot blossoms, etc. to decorate the hall to welcome the Lunar New Year 2025. They are preparing to organize activities such as campfires, tug of war competitions, and coordinating with local units to compete in football and volleyball on the occasion of the New Year. Along with that, they are maintaining a standing force during Tet.
"The most common determination of the brothers is to celebrate the New Year but not forget their duties, ensuring the unit's core political task is observation and detection" - Captain Dinh shared.

On Nam Du Island, the delegation experienced making banh chung with officers and soldiers of radar station 600 and the islanders.
Having quite a skill in wrapping banh chung, young soldier Truong Thanh Ky said that he did not know how to wrap banh chung before, but when he went to the island and was taught by his teammates in the unit, he quickly learned all the lessons to create a square, eye-catching cake.
"Before Tet, the unit often wraps banh chung and organizes many cultural, sports, and artistic activities to welcome spring. Although I cannot celebrate Tet with my family, in return, on a remote island, I have received the attention and help of my comrades and teammates in the unit. Activities such as wrapping banh chung help us officers and soldiers feel closer to the mainland, because we have all the flavors of Tet," soldier Ky shared.
Not only radar station 600 but also other radar stations of Naval Region 5 in the Southwestern sea and islands also organize activities to wrap banh chung and banh tet to celebrate Tet and other spring activities to celebrate the new year.
That not only makes the Tet meal more abundant but also helps soldiers on remote islands, especially those who have just arrived on the island to do duty, feel the warmth of Tet and ease their homesickness.
