The 2019 Labor Code stipulates that employees are entitled to a total of 11 official paid holidays and Tet holidays, including New Year's Day (1 day), Lunar New Year (5 days), Hung King's death anniversary on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month (1 day), Victory Day on April 30 (1 day), International Labor Day on May 1 (1 day) and National Day on September 2 (2 days).
According to the Lunar Calendar, Lunar New Year 2026 will fall on the following 5 days: Monday, February 16, 2026 (29th day of Lunar New Year); Tuesday, February 17, 2026 (1st day of Lunar New Year); Wednesday, February 18, 2026 (2nd day of Lunar New Year); Thursday, February 19, 2026 (3rd day of Lunar New Year); Friday, February 20, 2026 (4th day of Lunar New Year).
Thus, before and after the 5 official days off will be Saturday and Sunday. Therefore, if counting the weekend and the swap day, workers will be able to have 9 days off for the Lunar New Year 2026. Starting from Saturday, February 14, 2026 (December 27 of the lunar calendar, year of At Ty) to Sunday, February 22, 2026 (January 6 of the lunar calendar, year of Binh Ngo).
This is just a tentative schedule. Workers and businesses need to wait for an official document from the Prime Minister on the 2026 Tet holiday plan to make specific plans.
