During her official visit to the Kingdom of Norway, on November 23, local time, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with Crown Prince Haakon Magnus of Norway, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs .
At the meeting, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan expressed her joy at making her first visit to the Kingdom of Norway, and congratulated the Norwegian people on the socio -economic development achievements under the reign of King Harald V, making Norway one of the most prosperous countries with the best quality of life in the world.
The Vice President assessed that the Vietnam-Norway cooperation relationship has developed very positively in all fields in recent times and emphasized that the two sides need to maintain regular high-level visits to increase political trust and improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation.
Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan also suggested that the two sides should soon build legal frameworks to create a foundation to promote bilateral relations, expand cooperation in new areas such as culture, education - training, science - technology and people-to-people exchange, and strengthen coordination and mutual support at regional and international forums.
The Vice President hopes that Norway will coordinate to promote negotiations and soon sign the FTA between Vietnam and the EFTA bloc as well as support Vietnam in implementing the JETP commitment.
Welcoming Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan's official visit to the Kingdom of Norway, Crown Prince Haakon Magnus considered this an important event for the traditional friendship between the two countries and respectfully conveyed the regards of King Harald V to President Vo Van Thuong and Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan.
The Crown Prince recalled his deep impressions of the great changes in Vietnam that he witnessed during his official visit to Vietnam in 2014 and affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of the Kingdom of Norway.
Crown Prince Haakon Magnus expressed concern about the situation in the Mekong Delta due to the impacts of climate change and pledged that the Norwegian Royal Family and Government will continue to support Vietnam in responding to climate change, green transition and developing renewable energy.
The Norwegian Crown Prince also appreciated Vietnam's commitments at international forums on green transition, especially the commitment to bring net emissions to "zero" by 2025. The Crown Prince affirmed that Norway is ready to cooperate and support Vietnam to successfully implement these important commitments.
On this occasion, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan also conveyed President Vo Van Thuong's invitation to King Harald V to visit Vietnam soon and invited the Crown Prince and Princess to visit Vietnam again in 2024.
