On April 24, the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DARD) held a meeting to review and demarcate restricted areas for groundwater exploitation.
At the meeting, the Department of Agriculture and Environment announced Decision 495 of the Provincial People's Committee on the establishment of the Council for acceptance of the product "Delimiting areas and restricted areas for groundwater exploitation in Bac Lieu province", chaired by Mr. Luu Hoang Ly, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment.
Accordingly, the Project to delimit areas and restricted areas for groundwater exploitation in Bac Lieu province and organize the implementation of the next steps in accordance with current legal regulations. The total capital of the project is 1.5 billion VND, from economic activities. The implementation period is until June 2025. The scope is to carry out the task of delimiting areas for groundwater exploitation in the entire Bac Lieu province. The main contents for appraisal through the Appraisal Council for the topics of delimiting groundwater exploitation areas. Restricted area 1 includes areas with groundwater sources at risk of salinity intrusion in the aquifers qp3, qp2-3, n22, n21 and n13. For the remaining 2 aquifers, due to complete salinity (qh layer) and complete insolation (qp1 layer), there are no areas with groundwater sources at risk of salinity intrusion in these 2 layers. Restricted area 2 and mixed restricted area: Bac Lieu province does not have mixed restricted areas. Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Luu Hoang Ly - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Chairman of the Appraisal Council, said: After the appraisal meeting, the consulting unit will edit and supplement the report. To complete the dossier according to the opinions of the Appraisal Council and send the dossier with the acceptance and explanation report to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the relevant neighboring localities and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to get written comments. The response period is no more than 30 days from the date of receiving the complete dossier; at the same time, it will be submitted to the Appraisal Council for the final review before submitting for approval...
